First, I want to make it clear that I didn't design the template for my site. I got it from oswd.org which is a great site for free, open source templates. But I was wondering what you guys thought of my site, although currently it doersn't have very much content in it.

Here it is... Odyssey Game Studios

I'd like to hear your comments and feedback.

Cheers

Looks good, except the part that says:
Quote: " The next generation of gaming is
here, optimizing the cutting
edge features of DirectX 9!"

... DX10 is the next generation, DX9 is the old generation. You're behind the times

Me thinks.. Dx 9 is next generation for the masses, Dx 10 is for rich guys with lots of money who can afford to spend like £300 upgrading their PCs lol. But thanks for the comment.

Um.. my computer seems to want to display tex far too big, so I can only see 'The next generation of gaming is' and then it is cut off.

All those using the old version of this image must change to this image immediately.

Hmm, not sure why that would be. I've tested it in FF 2 and IE 7, try holding down Ctrl and scrolling the mouse wheel up to reduce the text size.

i really like that layout. your logo was cool

oh dude on the about page u spelled program wrong once. but i mean the site looks great!

freedomain.co.nr is a a cool place, u can register ur site and make a oddessygames.co.nr or something like that. it's not a .com but it is free, it will redirect right to the one you have now.

That's quite nice theme you've got there... Thoughts:
1) Try setting the body background to: #f0f0f0 (I personally think it makes the main page stand up a bit more). If you have Firefox, grab a copy of the Firebug add-on which lets you edit CSS on elements in real-time which I find REALLY useful for designing pages.

2) It says at the bottom "powered by phpBB", however I notice a very distinct installation of the SMF forum!

I agree with Nick. The developer tool bar is definitely worth a download. However i think a darker background colour of #CCC, #BBB or #AAA (no darker though) will look better. Just my opinion.

Oops, lol. I had that there when I was using phpBB 3 as my forum. But I don't like phpBB3 because it is an annoyance to use, so I switched to SMF. But thanks for pointing that one out. I'll address it in the next update.

I'll also download that toolbar for Firefox

Instead of having a direct link to the forums, I have created a page with an Iframe containing the forum index. It looks great with the new forum theme. But how can I get the Iframe to resize itself to the size of the forum index without having to keep on changing it?

Never mind, I found a script that does it for you.

@BigAdd

BigAdd's Link

There are two ways of doing links
{href=www.link_address.com}link{/href}
or
{href}www.link_address.com{/href}
The first way allows you to display alternative text.
Also APOLLO doesn't like %.

I think either I didn't explain very well, or you misunderstood me. I was thinking about the forums on my site not TGC. But I have found a fix.

Thanks any way OBese87

looks a bit Web 2.0 cookie cutter to me, and the header takes up half the screen here at work (1024x768res)

I don't have a sig, live with it.

I think it looks fine. Your logo isn't that big, and you've got a lot of good info displayed before the user has to touch anything. The layout is standard, sure, but that's a good thing imo.

The original header was like it is now, but without the bit that says "Odyssey". I have this 3D text program called Ulead Cool 3D. So I chose a style and everything and then typed out Odyssey. Copied and pasted onto the main header. But there was no smoothing so all of the edges were rough. In Gimp I blurred all of the edges and then added a shadow....

Cheers OBese87. I know how to do the links, it was obviously just messing up due to the % which i didn't know about. Thanks for the info.
