If this is real footy and graphics instead of actual film, Im in awe:

Theres more gameplay footy after the video finishes, it just keeps playing new videos of it. It looks like halo, sounds like halo... but it could be a really good halo mod, but I doubt it. Really though... that first video... *drool*.

You can see that the smoke from some of the missiles when they're in the hog looks fake, and some of the explosions do too. I can't decide whether or not it's real-time rendering of a cutscene or if its prerendered.

That video is either really good CG with some bad looking explosions here and there, or live action (my guess) which would explain the explosions and effects not meshing well. But that trailer video was sweet. Gameplay video, eh... just another halo

Hope single player will be good. Multi-player never struck me as very fun or addicting like other multiplayer games have.

I never said it was realtime . Thats weird Agent Dink, Halo has one of the best live gameplay experiences I've ever seen. Different likings I guess.

Well, I'm sure it was probably the best shooter on live. Don't get me wrong it was fun... It just didn't hook me the way Unreal Tournament, Counter-Strike, or the BattleField series does. It seems games that have multiplayer secondary to a single player storyline, just become kinda lame on multiplayer. You can tell it wasn't designed straight up for multiplayer.

There must be some reason that there's still thousands of matchmaking and custom games going on all the time on it though. I've never seen any other xbox games other than maybe bf2 or cs like you said, that still have an insanely huge number of players on live after all this time.

The first one wasn't completely cg. There's other vids out there from that same production group. In fact, I believe someone posted a picture here of the warthog that they built.

The first one was just live action with some CG and the second one didn't look much better than Halo 2 IMO. I've never really understood why so many people love Halo. There's nothing wrong with it, there's just nothing great about it. I've played many better FPS's, I don't know why so many consider Halo the best .

Halo's just got that great feel to it, when your playing. Its like, everything you want in a multi-player FPS. Very smooth to play as well, which is one of the main likings.

I think, like Xeno said, that it's just the feel. I've never played a FPS with quite the same smoothness and control as the Halo games, and while the formula is the game, it's all the little sounds, weapons, vehicles, maps, and quirks that makes the game so great.

IMO, Halo 3 looks terrific, not amazing, but still worth any Halo fans money. I look forward to playing it, even though I don't own a 360 (yay for mooching off my friends!)

Its also got a lot more story behind it than the generic "kill all terrorists" that seems to be the main theme of FPS's today. Sure the covenant are kind of like terrorists, but theres a lot more to it than that.
