I just finished playing through the demo for xbox 360, and its awesome. Of all the skate games I've played, this is the only one that gives me the same feeling as when Im actually skating in real life. Every trick depends on how you flick the toggle sticks, how fast, what angle, what pattern, etc. Not only that but the patterns are all correct, it mimics how you'd move your foot to make the board to the trick perfectly.

It comes out September 2007, I seriously recommend getting it or at least checking out the demo. Tony hawks is definitely out of the picture now, I dont see Proving Grounds doing nearly as good as Project 8 did now that this is out.

Not to mention the graphics are insane, the sound effects are exact, and there's a huge area to skate and explore. Plus the live feature lets you skate online with others, or you can even record footy of you skating, then edit the footy with a built in movie editor, and upload it to the net, where you can hot link it to things like facebook, and if Transworld (one of the biggest skate mags) likes it, they'll feature it on their site / in their mag...

Its also pretty sick that my friend's cousin (Chris Cole, a major pro skater) is in it .

Anyways... back to playing the demo.

Yeah I played this last night and was really impressed. It's got a very slick style to it indeed. I didn't enjoy it enough to buy the full thing though. The controls were just a bit too precise for me, I guess you really need to invest some serious hours to get them licked.

I sure am glad that they've put together another great skateboarding game. One problem for me though, is that I don't have a 360.

Yeah Ill definitely be buying it. Been pumping away at it for the last hour (gotta keep restarting the demo when it times out...) and I've got the basics down pretty good. The only problem I can see right now is the collision is a bit too realistic . In real life running over an inch high piece of concrete sticking out of the ground would stop you, but it gets a bit annoying in the game.

So its almost like the perfect game..but can you be perfect ? I mean come on gamers do require some leverage now and then right?

There aren't random pieces of concrete jutting out to trip you, its where the ramps begin to incline that Im talking about. If a wheel touches any part of the ramp, even if its right at the bottom where the ramp is only an inch off the ground, you'll trip and fall.

Can't wait to try this when my 360 gets back from repair--- for the second time

It was developed by the team behind NFS.

But Rich, remember when THPS first came out, and doing some of the button combinations whilst trying to keep a balanced manual with the analog stick? Took forever to get it right, but once you did, you could do it every time. I'd say the same thing goes for this skating game too - Once you figure out the 'sweet spot' per-se, you'll have it licked

I've been playing Downhill Jam on the DS, it has that old level from THPS1 on the PSX, the dam racing level - thought that was pretty cool, I wish they'd take all the best levels from all the Tony Hawks games and make a retrospective game based on them.

I'll end up buying Skate pre-owned, not sure I want to pay full price for it, although the demo is cool it's not like it's cream of the crop for what's coming out over the next few months.

We're going down... in a spiral to the ground...

I like it. Its got more of an open feel, unlike other skate games i've played. However after playing for an hour, I think i've pretty much done all the tricks etc in the game. Not much in the way in variation. I probably won't buy it.

Surprised actually nobody has made a post about Stuntman:Ignition. Thats a game I WILL be buying. I was a huge fan of the original.[/offtopic]

I doubt you've done every trick seeing as the game covers every well known skateboarding trick out there... and there are hundreds of those... And then all of those hundreds of tricks can be duplicated skating switch, and then again if done from nollie.

Quote: "The complete in-game soundtrack was revealed on June 13, 2007 [7]. There are 45 total songs, but the one that attracted the most attention is a brand-new recording of 'Pretty Vacant' by The Sex Pistols, recorded in Los Angeles in June 2007. This is the first time the band have recorded in a studio in thirty years."

Don't have a ps3 or 360, but that seems like a good enough reason to buy it to me!
