@Pyramid
Is that an oil rig?

@TDK
That doesn't look like an industrial building.
I made a small adjustment.

The oil rig looks just like the picture!
I'd like to see that in a rendered scene
Kudos TDK

@TDK
Sorry to hijack your thread a little but would you mind having a look at my isometric program in the "community project" thread please.
The game is going to need collisions and hills and I have to work it all out as that's my job , please post any comment there.
Thanks

G'day TDK

Umm poor modelling skills?? I have no idea what your talking about, from what I see, it all looks good, Def will look great used in game. Same for myself, just got myself Milkshape 3d recently, been modelling Arenas for my game that I've been working on.

It's based on Limit Rush tutorial, Making the game bigger. learning coding and improving my skills, I'm planning to built 12 arenas, at the moment I've done 4.

You can try make some hovercraft, I might like it and throw it into the game. I'm using .3ds format

Cheers.

Anthony

P.S. Lucifer, how did you get your program to display polygons count? Thanks

If you could make something similar to a Nuclear Power Plant,
I would be very happy

I love how you say 'I'm rubbish at texturing' and that stuff about being an only moderate modeller, these models obviously prove you wrong! Great work

No, I said - or at least I meant - I was rubbish at making textures. All of these are the ones that come free with DB and are very basic. Proper texturing using UVWrap is totally beyond me at the moment.

As for the actual models, thanks to the ones I'm making for this thread, I am getting a little better. They are still a bit so-so though.

I still can't do humans, animals or any living creatures and I'd love to be able to animate. So I'm still a novice!

Here's the TV:

UV mapping isn't as hard as making a model like that...

TDK, I could take some time out of my games to make some milkshape animating, modelling, and Lith Unwrap texturing tutorials. As well as photoshop tutorials.

You've helped me so much in the past, and I did look up to you, so I would love to write tutorials for you

Meh. Signatures. Lame :p

Thanks Xen - I'm no expert at everything, so I find good tutorials useful too!

If you do, can you work on the assumption that the model you want to animate in Milkshape has been created with something else and that you already have the .X file.

A bit of info on anything special you need to do with the models before saving the .X file would be useful too.

In fact, I'll create an enemy base model for you with a radar aerial on the roof and you can animate (rotate) it as part of the tutorial if you like. You can then let me know if there were any problems with the way the model was created.

I can also provide the same model untextured to go with the UVWrap section of the tutorial.

You have my email address if you want to save cluttering this thread.

@TDK

Since I haven't seen any mention of the cooridors I requested, I'll assume you didn't see the post or won't be able to get to them. In either case, don't bother - I've managed them with an app and they should suffice for my needs.

Enjoy your day.

Sorry - they were on my list, but I was doing the easier ones first.

No problem if you have sorted it out yourself though...

The models look great! Thanks for the effort.
I think I will try to UV map the models later, as right now the texture isn't looking very good on the model (no offense).

Yes - you've resurrected quite an old thread here.

Two problems. First of all, as I stated earlier in the thread, I don't do living things - even more so if you want them animated. Only inanimate objects.

Second, I've lost my original TrueSpace 5 CD and after a drive failure recently I had to re-install Windows. I'm now stuck because I can't re-install TrueSpace.

I'm seriously considering switching to MilkShape because I can't find anywhere to buy another copy of Truespace 5 - it's not supported any more and I don't like using eBay.

If I do that though, I'll be right back to square one as anyone who's used any version of TrueSpace will tell you, it's an odd interface and when you get used to it, using other modelling programs are quite difficult to get used to.

zeuz what about trying to model yourself? it'd probably be easy to model a dog like that. if you're ever going to make games you cant depend on other people making everything for you..
