Vista sucks...but we already know that.

The only way I ever get anything out of support people is if I keep bugging them a lot and they give up on shoving me off.

You may need to log in as administrator to install some stuff. Some user accounts can be too restrictive.

also found this for ya...

I own and play both Halo 2 and ShadowRun.
Although Shadowrun very little because it's quite frankly a sh*te game.

Still I've had no issues installing them, remember.. Halo 2 doesn't have a traditional installer. So you have to manually tell it to run in admin mode (which I think is a bit silly).

ShadowRun on the other hand is just buggy, and well see above comment.

Halo2 has been fine for me. I chose the option to play immediately, and for it to install in the background, and that worked fine. I do have UAC disabled though, as has been said, you'll probably have to manually tell it to run as an admin.

Shadowrun wasn't so bad. It installed and ran fine for me, though I only played it for about two weeks. Just lost interest in it, and it took ages to find a game to join.

Halo 2 on the other hand, has been a nightmare. First time I installed it half the textures were corrupt so had to install it again (this time not using the play whilst installing option). Then whilst playing it, when my xbox live subscription ran out I found that actually it was lie when they said you could get single player achievements with silver subscription. Finally it managed to completely corrupted my install of vista and I had to reformat.
