I preferred the first Flatout game, had much better mini-games, like the one where you have to launch the guy out of the car and see how high you can get him
. I thought the physics were better in the original too, it's like they added much more objects to the sequel, but also made it a bit less realistic in order to cope.
Flatout Ultimate Carnage for the 360 is pretty much just Flatout2, but worth looking into if you like more unusual racing games. I wouldn't say the Flatout games are more realistic, because in reality a race like that would be stopped within a few seconds!, but it's real fun to drive around with a plank of wood sticking out of your windscreen, and it's satisfying to crash into a tirewall and cause untold carnage when every single tire goes flying in a different direction. It does feel like the way Burnout changed over the years, more this that and the other while the games fluidity suffers. I only really like Burnout and Burnout2, I have a sickly feeling that I won't like the next Flatout game, I'm imagining them adding crash time and being able to move the car in mid air, and god knows what else that killed the Burnout series for me.
We're going down... in a spiral to the ground...
