You may have a look at these tutorials:
http://www.blender.org/tutorials-help/video-tutorials/modelmateriallight/

I think "LSCM UV Mapping" is what you need to check.

FIRST SAVE YOUR OBJECT then re-open it it should be selected pink outline or sumtin my comp screen STINX

ok go down to panels but dont clik it go right till you reach a grey shaded sphere (cicle) click it.

next go to the box that says links and pipe lines. if u see ther is a thing just beelo that says MA:Materials and then there are several sybols next to it clik on the x button (dont worry about what it did. ) then clik add new.

next u if u look a tad bit up and a little to the left you will see a red shaded sphere the button to the right is the button you wanna press then go to add new. next you see texture type go to image. on the far right u see a bar that says load clik it then find your texture. hit load then if u look to your right and you can see it. to see how it would fits on different shapes go back and click on the red sphere. to see your texture on your object hit F12

sincerely,
SKULLY

((note most textures have to be JPEG))

See you in heck

Ah! You need to unwrap it. My friend you need to click on object mode to uv face select... Then click on where it shows two rectangles its by panels click on that till you see Uv Image/editor. click on that. Now load up your texture. And then done!

Hehe you can do it that way mate but it is easier that way because then you can print-screen and work on the texture

You need to go to the materials panel and click on the text face button. this will make your material texture show up in your renders.
