Any reccomendations? I don't need surround sound, just a 2.1 system with power sub and crystal clear audio. My boston acoustics have a bad connection somewhere in a circuit in the subwoofer, so the two satellite speakers don't work very well. I just bought these Klipsch on Friday and I'm not too happy. Excellent bass, but chinsy sounding highs. Sadly, boston acoustics don't make computer speakers anymore.

You could go with a pair of small speakers for 10 bucks. Thats my system right there. And it works out very well.

I bought the following speakers and they are excellent. Of course, they're 5.1, so I dunno how much help that is , and they are in a different price bracket than obviously what you are purchasing... But for less than $70 you can't get much better speakers

I have had these for awhile now. They sound great to me. I've heard better, but I've definitely heard worse. I think for the price these are unbeatable.

There's an OEM version on Newegg as well for cheaper.

The Klipsch Pro-media 2.1 are what I have been using for about a year now, and they're the best 2.1 speakers on the market.

The only problems one may have (which don't bother me, just other people),

A) Analog Controls
b) power switch on the back of the sub.

Really though, they're not problems to me. Make sure you're using a decent sound card, with a half-decent driver EQ (In my case, X-FI Fatality)

Awesome speakers and I 100% recommend them.

[studio-tech]

Not worth the money, IMO. Having tested them, they really didn't give much different spectrum than the Behringer Truth monitors I have in my studio. Granted, the Hydro Tweeters are present in my Truths, still, they were MUCH less.

Studio Monitors are not a hasty purchase item. Do LOTS of research before even contemplating a purchase.

@Eric T: It was a joke, however, you cant compare a near-range monitors like truth series with a Mid-range/main Mastering monitors like those Adams, not only has a widest spectrum and a flattest response also adam´s have better performance in Transitory´s (like all mastering monitors) however without a brilliant D/A conversion its a waste of time, even with a premium D/A like apogee Rosetta 200 or benchmark DAC1 still a waste of money and time, only D/A converters like Prism, lavry, Sphynx (Pyramix) are suitable for this job, Mastering its other world...

BTW Im using Samson Resolv 2.1 monitors for multimedia, I was using them in my studio however since I bought a pair of mackie HR626 I didn't need them anymore so I'm using them as multimedia speakers

Cheers

I just said how disatisfied I was with $150 speakers. What makes you think $10 speakers would meet my quality standards?

So you probably realize the sound quality I want more than most others here. I have an Audigy2 ZS platinum. Those "problems" you mentioned are not an issue for me either, sounds like people nit-picking. If anything, I prefer an analog control.

I think I may end up just doing what hessiess suggested and hooking up an actual stereo receiver.

What do you guys think about this harman/kardon? Just for gaming/music to replace my Altec Lansing ACS-33, nothing too hardcore.

I looked at those, they're ok but personally I think the Klipsch sounded better. Plus, those look really weird!

I've started looking for some B&W speakers. My friend has a set of bookshelf series 6 and they are awsome. They are expensive, so I've been keeping my eye on ebay.

Returned the speakers, best buy didn't have much in home audio, so I went over to circuit city. They had a pretty reasonable package for $850 which included a Denon receiver and dvd player with a 6 piece boston acoustic speaker setup.
