I have some code snippets for on screen text messages saved on notepad, but how do I put them in FPSC and into my games.

"Does anyone know my girlfriends cell number, I forgot it,
oh wait a minute, I don't have a girlfriend."

Save em as FPI.

Open it in a triggerzone.

Wait, does that mean when I save it in notepad, i just do this in the save screen:

EXAMPLE:
textmessagescript.fpi

then does it just instantly make it so I can open it in a triggerzone. Or do I have to do something.

You make your script.
And in notepad you save it as a FPI.
So for example:

hello.txt
=
hello.fpi

And then its an FPSC script.
Ready to go in FPSC.

I get the feeling from this thread that the two of you are talking about different things. What is in the textmessageappear.fpi? Is it words like - "My text goes here" and stuff? Or is it :state=0... etc etc?

Ok

Download the attached file which will make text appear in the centre of the screen when player is close enough to an entity or a trigger zone.

Place it in the following directory

C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\scriptbank

This script can be used with any entity providing it is made dynamic and the AI main field is pointing to the attached text_appear.fpi in properties (right click entity in map editor).

Alternatively create a triggerzone and ensure the AI main is pointing to this script.

Now just create a new image file in a paint application which is large enough for your text. Ensure the background is completely black (RGB 0,0,0) then add your text, save as textappear.png and place in the following directory

C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\languagebank\english\gamecore\text

With a little effort you can add audio / video clips to go with the text for picking up an entity of your choice or letting the user know they have entered a new area in a trigger zone for example.

I've attached a small video which will show you the script working for both an entity and a triggerzone.

The thing to remember is that you are calling a hud image to the screen for text to appear hence creating the .png mentioned before not writing the text directly into the script.

Have fun

Awesome Nomad Soul, that'll be perfect, but where do I type in the words I want to appear, could you point that out to me. Thanks.
