Just curious if its possible to make something simple for a 2d weapon like in doom or marathon? also how would it look in FPSC?

too be honest, your better off using game maker 6/7 if you want simple 3d with 2d overlays.

id agree with that, GM even has an example of a doom game all set up, so you can download that and play with it, plus GM has support for character sprites.

HUDS, I suppose could be used.

I quite like the idea, could look effective in a 'Cartoon' style game plus it's nice not to forget the roots of FPS (wolfstein,doom,quake ect).

What about creating a prism and texturing top to make it look like doom?
