Well Guys I haven't put out any free models in awhile mainly because I've been working allot of overtime, but anyway, I wipped this up today, it’s a animated air conditioner the animation on this model is small but effective, after making the AC model I made two plastic streamers then animated them and attached them to the air vents on the AC model so it looks like air is really flowing out of the vents in game, It is also a segment and an entities. I made this AC into a Segment by used TGC's segment editor.I had to make my own AC wall frame and CSG block for the segment. So this AC is located in your segments browser under LBS Entities as wells as the Entity Browser inside of FPSC,and it has sound also.
Enjoy.

When I saw the thread title I was wondering what the heck you could animate on an AC - plastic streamers never occurred to me, despite having seen the effect dozens of times in films and tv. A very subtle touch

Cheers

Thanks Everyone I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad you like it.

GPS@ I was going to release is as a static entity/segment at first then I remembered seeing streamers taped to AC in a couple of movies and on a couple of AC when I was little, so I figured what the heck I make some animated streams for it.

Chupa cabra,

Very nice, but not blowing cold air. Any chance you could whip up a bottle of freon to charge it up?

Thanks.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

xplosys@ It was fully charged, you must have placed it on it's side instead of upright when you transported it to your PC your going to have to wait for an hour for the freon to make it from the coils back to the compressor then it will start blowing cold are again.

Ahh, a man who knows refrigeration. That did the trick. I always got a kick out of people asking me to come out and put more freon in their air conditioner. They thought it wore out and had to be replaced every year. A lucrative profession for a less than honest technician for sure.

Best.

Chupa cabra,

Greetings. I've taken the liberty of generating an alternate "OFF" variation texture for your AC unit.

It's a .jpg and the animated ribbons now lay still against the unit. It matches up perfectly with your animated ribbons, and looks great!

I figured that a scenario where the player might need to turn the AC on or off could be an option. It enchances the animation feature even more.

Enjoy.

Thanks,

Seth Black

xplosys@ ya I'm and electrician by trade but I have friends that are tin knockers so I've learned a few thing from them about HVAC.that was one of them.

Seth Black@ the new texture looks great, I thought about making it turn off and on also, I'll have to to that.

pigs can fly@ Thanks!

Chupa cabra,

Quote: "I thought about making it turn off and on also, I'll have to to that."

EDIT:

Disregard the previous script that I had posted. It doesn't quite get the job done. Animations and alternate textures take a little getting used to.

Please find the attached AC ON & OFF.zip. It's a modification to xplosys' keypad script.

The player can now walk up to the operating AC unit and turn it off, and turn it back on. It looks great ingame.

This illusion could be reversed by swapping the textures around.

You'll need the alternate texture .jpg file that I posted above, for this to work properly.

Enjoy.

Thanks,

Seth Black

...good deal. You're most welcome.

...there's probably a couple of minor details you may want fine tune...getting the .wav to shut off...matching the AC up with a good remote switch combo...
