I just purchased dark gdk.net for visual studio.net 2003 ide.
I keep getting an error when adding a reference for the dll's.
It say's its and invalid com or assembly component.
Is this because of the .net 1.1? Or is it something else?

You are correct, it's because DGDK.NET requires 2.0 .NET Framework and above. Visual Studio 2003 support was removed in v1.0.5.0. If you're using the express version of Visual Studio 2003, you may probably want to download 2005. Other than this, I'm unsure if 2.0 can be installed for Visual Studio 2003.

Paul.

I think vs2003 has the option to compile with .NET 2.0 if 2.0 is installed on the machine but I would recommend moving up to vs2005. The Express version will have everything you need to develop with dgdk.net

As far as I know, it's not possible to use .NET 2.0 with VS 2003, I've read somewhere at MS's site about it. To compile for 2.0, use the 2005 version.

If you want something free for a while, you could download Visual Studio 2008 beta 2 from http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/aa700831.aspx

All you need is to set up a passport/live/Hotmail ID. I've been using it for a while now and there are major improvements in the IDE and it is a lot easier to target different frameworks in it. For example, I'm using it to create a .net 2.0 app bet get advantage of all the IDE improvements.

It seems very stable too. (More stable than my 2005 )

The express versions of 2008 also have a lot more functionality in them than you got with express 2005. (Including the ability to target different versions of .net 2.0 -> 3.5)

The full version is going to be released to MSDN peeps later this year (I assume the express versions at the same time) and the official release is in Feb next year where it will hit the shops.
