I've simply named this thread Airslide's PGPS Winter Contest Entry because I don't have a name yet, nor will I probably have one for some time

Airslide's Unnamed PGPS Winter Contest Entry


Overview:
Originally, my plan for this wasn't to have that much custom media but instead to make good use of scripts. Then S4's subway pack came along and I started messing with debris, and I ended up with some nifty stuff. So, there will be far more custom media than originally intended.

Story:
You are a British Special Air Service operative who was working in an American-British joint operation to settle a serious hostage situation in the British Embassy at Washington, D.C. The mission was half-way in progress when the terrorists announced that time was up - and the free world would pay. Not only was each and every hostage executed with a single shot in the back of the head, but over two thousand chemical bombs placed throughout the US and England detonated. That was nothing, however, when sixteen Russian-made nuclear warheads detonated aswell. The following slew of violence, death, and destruction successfully dis-mantled the US and UK governments.

Now you are stuck in the United States, now designated a war zone. It's been nearly two years since the attack, and while things of changed, none for the better. You've been nearly in isolation since a week after the attack, the day your radio stopped working. You've been one of the lucky few to avoid the radiation and survive the chemical attacks thanks to your gas mask and chemical warfare equipment.

An unknown voice beckons you. Almost subconsciously you arrive at an old abandoned subway station. You find an inactive generator and activate it, to find, much to your delight, that it still has gas in it. A boarded wall ahead of you is broken down, much like the one you just passed through, and a strange feeling pushes you forward.

You've begun your journey as a soldier - you'll finish it as a survivor.

I don't have much yet, but I'm trying to setup a thread. I had more than two but for some reason the last 2 or so didn't take, not sure why. Maybe I was pressing F11 by accident





Custom Media Info
I will probably be releasing the debris and some other nik-nacks once this project is finished, for anyone who's interested

C&C wanted

EDIT: Especially some suggestions for lighting, I'm not really sure how to go about that for the scene. The lighting in the shots is just a little experiment with a dynamic light being turned on by the generator which for some reason isn't working

Cool but yet unrealistic. Dude with nuclear warheads going off everywhere, everyone should be dead by now.

I was kinda thinkin' that. I'm not to eager to just plop in model pack 5 or 6 (and 9 and 10 will probably be used to death and are too high quality for the rest of my stuff ), so I may rig hands on the same way I did for Doom: Evolved, and I guess it doesn't take all that long...I just need to get off my rear and do it.

Added some new screenies. They don't show that much other than the same environment lit up and a little more of it.

I'm still thinking on how I'm gonna remap the story though. You are going to be a woman, mainly so I can make use of the awesome female hand texture for model pack 6 loc made

I've already rigged up 3 different weapons to model pack 6 skeletons to add the the mp6 weapon selection - John's Berreta Elite (which I may or may not use, since I'm not sure if I'm going to have any pistols), the mossberg shotgun, and an f2000 rifle.

I like the look in your game. Being a programmer I'm highly biased against media. I think good gameplay beats awesome graphics anyday, lmao. I'm sure given a little thought and time, your scripts (and mine, lol) will start working just as you planned.

The AK47 (no longer planned for use though) was from DarkMatter. The 3D Game Maker had model packs that were essentially parts of DarkMatter, I believe.

Airslide; Where's the dead bodies? If the whole world had died i raditation, where are al the dead bodies? I read your tut on Dead Bodies - really helpful, and I think you could use it in your game.

Yea, I'm using it. I've already got some dead hazmat guys and I'll make some dead civilians soon. Granted, most of them have become food for the...well, I'll save the surprise (provided I can actually model them in the first place...). Right now I'm trying to find some good blood textures, I think I found a good site but I'm having trouble finding where they have license info.

Hahaha, if only I gave up that easy. That was good, I rarely laugh that hard on these boards, I thank you for that, Airslide.

As for the game, I freakin' love it so far! When you release this I hope you're not gonna bore me with default gameplay, lol.

I also think you should put in a part in the game where the character says things like "Omg, I broke a nail! Game over!" ... okay, maybe that was a little too sexist on my part.

Love the story. As far as being unrealistic ...who cares? The Matrix was fake but we all loved it.

Bodies - Would there be any? Two years of fallout and ash. There certainly wouldn't be any trees or grass. With all the bugs and animals dead it would certainly create a dilemma on mother nature to bear fruit in other words.

I like it. keep going with it.

Well if a nuke went off in that particular scene I think the building would no longer be standing, so hopefully you can assume all that's gotten to that area is radiation and chemical gas. Not that that leaves things looking too much better.
