Ok, many people say "I won't run windows vista because of all it's secuity questions and features!"

I have something to point out. There are two types of users! Theres user A, who's like my mum, her laptop is flooded with spawning adware windows, viruses and trojans from one single site she went onto. She doesn't know how to use a virus scanner properly, and basically has enough knowledge to load up internet explorer and mail. She wouldn't have a chance at all, at turning off vista's secuity features.

Now on the other hand there's the well versed computer user who knows their machine inside out and how to prevent and remove such harmful software. These are also the users who will be able to work out how to turn these features off.

So users who can turn off the secuity features deserve too, and are safe doing so. Users who can't, really, really need these options to remain enabled.

So Windows Vista basically has an aptitude test built in! If you pass, you're worthy of a question free life!

And passing involves snapping your CD in favor for a Free linux distro

But seriously, I agree that certain people shouldn't be allowed near a computer unless it is locked down like fort-knox (is that spelled right?)

Yes, it is spelt right, although not capitalised and there should not be a hyphen in the middle. SNAP the Vista disc!? Sell it on Ebay!

Since the other one was scaring you guys so much...

I like Kenjars reasoning. It makes total sense and if you look at it that way, it actually seems smart of Microsoft.

I agree that it is smart of Microsoft. Most people using a computer, that I've seen, know so little about what it does, and how to prevent trojans, spyware, worms, etc. If you can't turn off the UAC, that's for a GOOD reason. If you can, then you are likely knowledgable enough to stay away from the trojans, spyware, etc.

Most people who don't like Windows Vista are either Mac lovers claiming Microsoft steals everything (Which I think is bull**** because they originally stole Xerox's GUI, and they wouldn't even be Mac lovers if it weren't for Microsoft anyhow... Investing over a million something dollars into Apple). Excuse me, but this could turn into a long rant, so if you haven't done so already, make some popcorn. Okay, next I have seen that a lot of times some one is using the other OS because of either A) They hate MS because for no real reason, or hate MS for their ethics (Which, btw, is stupid because despite their ethics, they still manage to donate a ton of money to charities, and in fact, donate more money than anyone else, or so I've heard), and/or B) They want to be "Uber l33t". And your OS doesn't make you "Uber l33t", you're knowledge on it, and programming abilities does, IMO. Also, Mac and Linux users claim to be the most secure OSs in the world because they have little to no spyware... Well, if 80% of the world used Mac or Linux, don't you think there would be more trojans, spyware, and the such on that? If not, your head is way to far up your a**.

Quite honestly, I am well aware of what I have ranted about is uncalled for, but to prevent more threads coming up about such a thing, I'm posting this anyways. I use Windows Vista and am quite happy with it. The bugs where minimal, and most of them were fixed! Windows Aero is amazingly fast, and the Basic/Classic themes even faster! It's a new OS, of course not all the hardware is going to be supported! They REWROTE EVERYTHING in the OS, claims MaximumPC (A very trustworthy PC magazine here in America). It gets the job done, it's popular, and a good majority of programmers use Windows, those are only "surface scratching" reasons why I like Windows, there are a ton more, which I would be happy to post if any one is interested.

Cheers,

I didn't have popcorn available and still I read it. I did grab a cola and a cookie. I must say I enjoyed the read, really - most of your points I agree on.

lol! Care to share that cookie? Grandma isn't around, and she hid her secret stash of cookies!

But more seriously, I am glad you agree with my points, as the first post I was expecting to see was something along the lines of:

Quote: "NO! *OS of choice* is better than Windows because MS is crap, and can't get their coding right! I could have built a better OS in less time than MS!"

Anyways I did forget to mention something about how long it took MS to build the OS, but if anyone brings it up I will just mention it then, I think I've done enough ranting for the day.

I like your sig btw, made me laugh.
