I am coming back to DBC! DBP is useless for me. So is there anything new I may want to get for DBC?

um..welcome back? Why would you need anything new, just get on that editor and make games.

Just a question, why is pro useless to you exactly?

Not to poke fun or anything but if you can't use pro...won't you still have issues with classic too?

@ Zombinos

Oh, I don't know Zombie. I think I can understand where Pyramid Games is coming from. I had DBC for a year or so and picked up DBP thinking that it would help me to make more awesome games (and it can). The problem was that I didn't like DBP at first. It was a change from DBC and I couldn't get it to load a file for anything. I would go to where the files should have been saved and they weren't there. You now have project files, source files, it doesn't make the .exe's the same as DBC and . . . .well, it's just different. I got aggravated with it and tossed it in the corner for over a year before I really picked it back up. I also got the book 'Hands on DarkBASIC Pro' and it helped.

I saw that DBP is SO much more powerful that DBC that I stuck with it. Now, I enjoy both, but it wasn't always so.

Pyramid Games

I would suggest at some point down the road that you consider picking DBP back up and plan on spending some time with it. It is an awesome program and you can do much more with it. In my view, it is worth the effort to make the transition.

Well worth the effort. I picked up DBP trial a few months after its initial release and then the full version not to long after that and have never looked back on Classic.

Performance, improved UI, extra features, the list goes on.

Edit: I still have nightmares about Classics user interface

Q: Why can't you ever please a women?
A: Because no bloke has a pe#*s made out of chocolate which ejaculates money!

I'm not surprised - that's why hardly anyone used it!

I'm using it TDK , I personally love classic.

LB -

Poop, well that little tidbit kinda turned me off to pro for a while, but I still intend on purchasing it as I've seen the amazing things it can do *cough* TGCH hahaha.. I will most definatly get it and work with it though.

TDK- Hey guess what...your tuts totally rock, I've been using the sprite method of buttons and its coming great, thank you very much for writing that TDK. I like to be able to see how to hardcode a button, I feel it gives the programmer a better lesson.

Pyramid- I hope I didn't offend you as it was not my intent at all..I had just assumed that if you couldn't do pro you couldn't do classic but....you know what they say about people who assume .

@Pyramid
Welcome back!
We're getting v1.2 any day now thanks to Ron Erickson and co

I want to apologise for what I said on that other thread when everyone went into religion and evolution, there's no point in arguing about stuff that doesn't matter on here. I got a big slap for it too

OBese87,
No problem. After warning everyone not to go down that path, then reading your post which was way over the line, you left me no choice but to give you a slap. I didn't want to, but I have to be fair. It is only 2 days.

@Ron
It was fair
I think a slap is much more effective than a ban, cos you are constantly reminded that you broke the AUP haha
you should make it so slapped users have to include "I will not break the AUP" in all their posts

is DBC v1.2 ready for download yet?

Yes. It is "ready". I just need TGC to build the installer and upload it to the site. Hopefully that will happen soon.
