Ok, let me tell you a story,

i wa s riding my barand new customized bike

custom painted frame
carbon fiber handlebars
titanium seat post
awesome disk breaks in the front
no rear brakes (if you won't flip over if you get used to regulating the brake pressire that you apply)
it was built as a light, fast single speed mountain/rasing bike
weighs about 21 pounds (very light for a big mountain bike)
i love this bike so much,

so i was riding a bike very fast down a sidewalk this lady in a huge hummer came from behind me and without even considering to let a biker pass, so she turned into a driveway right in front of me, As much as i hate hummers, i didn't want to crash into it. The whole regulating the brakes thing... at that time the instinct kicked in and I slammed on the brakes and the next thing i know, i am flying through the air head first. The next thing after that, i am sliding on the pavement on the side of my face. After a few seconds of lying on the ground, regaining my feelengs.
then i just got up, looked at the parked hummer, shaded windows, coldn't see anything from behind it.

in fact' i don't think she even saw me, what do you expect the thing is like 2 stories high, she proboly couldn't see me while so high up in her frigging hummer

i scratched the hand brakes on the bike parts of my palms and a side of my face.

the guy in 7 eleven later that day (i came for a drink) is like DUUUDE!, you ned t' go t' a hosp'tal 'r somet'ing? you 're bleedin man, 'nd yur face is messed up! turns out that my glasses were wedged in the side of my face.

another story is i was riding my old piece of junk BMX very fast, i turned without breaking, the pedal and the asphalt came together sending me flying off my bike thiat time my face was ok but the entire side of my arm and leg were scraped. I wasn't sure how to treat it, and for the first time in my life, i wanted to treat this injury (i almost never treat them). So i washed it, and wrapped it in bandages. next morning, i realized that my bandages were stuck to my arm by the clotted blood. first i thought it will come off eventually but after a cuple of showers and 2 days, i noticed that something green began growing underneath my bandages, i started removing the bandages. Oh the pain i went through. The lower layers of bandages were already grown into my flesh and had white and green goo stuff on it. 3 hours of pain and self tourture and i finally removed it. After that, i just desided to wear a short sleeved shirt and not make any attemps to treat this horrific looking scrape (i almost made my mom throw up when i showed the bandage the next day)

So tell about your worst wipeouts on stuff

Hmm...I haven't been through much, but this is probably the worst I've experienced:

I was pedalling on my bike as hard as I could as I rode down a hill in my neighborhood. I saw my friend's mom in her driveway and she waved at me. I tried to wave back, but my lack of coordination didn't allow for it...I ended up on my side next to a smear of blood that stretched about 6 ft.

Worst thing that happened to me must have been a heated iron hitting my head with the point and piercing a hole in my head when I was about three.

On a bike? Worst thing once I hit the mirror of a car that drove by at far too high speeds. Must've made a summersault but wonder, miracle and all that stuff... I landed on my feet before rolling on. Some guy who watched it actually told me he thought I was an acrobat or something.

Did wreck my bike, my glasses and a big scrape on my arm and chin. The chin left me a mark, so I grow a modest goatee over it now. Makes me look different and actually looks kinda good on me. Me likes.

I, too, have a bike accident to tell about, although there isn't much to tell from my end.

I was riding home one day in the middle of heavy rain. Was pedaling down this hill as hard as I could to get home faster, but I couldn't see anything, rain kept hitting me in the face and so I kept blinking... didn't see much, but the last thing I do remember is:

I looked up at full speed to see a lady holding an umbrella juuuuust about 3 feet in front of my bike... yeah, no time to even touch the breaks. *BOOM* *CRASH* all that jazz. But all I heard was *OOOF* *silence*...

Woke up in the hospital 9 days later.

But boy, I had the BEST Halloween costume that year. Every house I went to it was "Wow, such realistic make-up!"

I've never had a really bad one. Why don't you use a rear break . I never use the front brake or I'd end up doing what you did .

Worst wipeout, based on amount of pain, I'm about 2 feet above the coping of a 10 foot ramp. Well, I pushed away just a little too far from the ramp and came crashing towards the ground in a position as if I were laying on my stomach. I couldn't get my feet to the ramp to push my body upright. I was just high enough to have that split-second thought of knowing what's about to happen and having no power to prevent it. Saved my head (i had a helmet anyway) by throwing my hands out to catch myself. Had a serious sprain in my wrist for months that still cause me problems years later.

Last night I pulled my back just simply jumping out of a ramp, nothing fancy. I think all the flips I was doing earlier finally caught up with my old age.

I've told this one before on here but we can give it another go.

Friend and I had found an old ps2 conttoller that had been ripped apart well and decided to drag it home..literally. We were going down the homestretch trail, him in front with the cord dangling behind. We rounded a corner and I had to dodged a parked car and didn't see the cord wrap around my spokes, I drug for about 5 seconds before I was skidding sideways on the ashphalt being drug, ow. Only thing hurt was a bleeding knee and a little pride, we're tough folks.

I don't ride a bike but I heard of this guy who was riding up the ramps in a multi-storey car park and in the air he hit his head on a nail sticking out the ceiling! he was going pretty fast and the thing almost totally scalped him! wear a helmet folks

When I was younger, we had an oval-shaped bike track in out local park (about 25m long) with two jumps.
One day, we found an old log that fit behind the jump perfectly allowing us to pile dirt on it to make the jump at least twice as big.
All of us were quite good at it, and I don't think any of us came off doing the jumps at all.

My bike was quite old, however. After doing the jump a few times, my handle bars were a little skewed. I didn't think anything of it (barely noticeable).
15 minutes later, we're having a full-pelt race down the street and around the block. I start off strong, pedaling like a mad-man, then I stand up to get more push. In doing so, I put my weight down on my handle bars, straining them just a little too much, and the right handle snapped clean off.
I went head first into the ground. Luckily I was wearing a helmet, which got absolutely ruined. Massive scrapes up my arms and knees, and hands... All the usual places.

Ahh, the memories!

I've had a fair few stacks off my skateboard.
Going full-pelt down a mountain designed for v8 car racing (ie, smooth and fast). Couldn't stop, so I rode onto the grass. The board stopped, I kept going. Tried to run a few steps but I was going waaaay too fast to even get my feet down.
Needless to say, about 10m from where I came off, I was pretty stunned on the ground and shaken up.

Which reminds me, I once had my bike break into two pieces! The steer and front wheel lay 3 meters ahead of me, the rest of the bike 3 meters behind me, me with a big wound on my arm and a small one on my head between.

Never buying second-hand bikes again. It was rusted inside out.

Isn't a bike incident but....

I was in my old school field and was running towards the bleachers to jump onto it, I missed and my left shin skidded across the wood and I fell on my back.

I was in so much pain I tucked that knee in and held on to it, until I could look at it, blood started pouring out like water running from a facet. I went in class and asked to the teacher, umm, can I have a band aide as my sock was soon to be getting drenched in blood.. The first response she said was, did you get in trouble. No I didn't. I went to the office and put a bunch of big bandaides on it. Ended up soaking from my mid shin all the way to my ankle in blood that turned purple. It was so much it looked like fake blood. I'm sure I scared some kindergarters that day.

Ended up being infected and cut too deep to get stitches, so I had worked on at a hospital. If I came a day later, they would have to remove the skin, clean it up, and reapply the skin because of how infected it was.

My life is young (kinda), so my worst wipeout was when I was snowboarding. I'm a good snowboader, but I hit a rock. Then I whipped around and hit a tree. I s-l-o-w-l-y slid down the mountain in pain. When I got up, I found there was a bit of blood in the snow. Ouch.

also reminds me of a time i broke my bike in 2 pieces also (7 year old jackass i was) my friend was helping me learn to ride bike on 2 wheels, and we found it fun pushing each ther on that bike into trees and stuff. we ended up snapping the bike in half lol.

this also reminds me of another permenet scar i have. me and a friend( the same one as in the previous story)
It sttarted out just like fooling around, throwing pine cones at each other (i ws lke 7-8yo). then we started chucking pebbles at each other. Before long we dared each other to throw and dodge large stones. the guy had a very good throw, and he accsedentally chucked a large sharp rock into my forehead. I think i got a minor brain injury i don't know (all i know i am not as bright as my relatives) but i have a permenent scar on my forehead because of that.

This one wasn't too bad but again i was 9, riding my bike. A treestump in front of me. I try to do a wheelie and end up pulling my handlebars off of a bike, I landed in dirt when crashed into the treestump. (i also had a funny incident where i was doing a wheelie and my front wheel fell off)

one more i just remembered, i was going down a hill which had like a small jump at the bottom, someting happened in the air ecause i landed with my crotch wedged between the rear wheel and the seatpost.

thats all the crazy things i did back in the day with my friend (we were jackasses, these are just the only ones that come to my mind)

boy i was lucky not tripping on a rail while playing chicken with an oncoming train

PAGAN isn't the first one partly your fault for having no back break? I fell off my bike into a load of nettles before, that didn't hurt but my body was literally buzzing for a good 24 hours afterwards. On a different ride along the same route I went too fast down a hill and fell off my bike and busted my knee open pretty badly.
My favourite story though is when my brother was going down some stairs on his bike, got scared and decided it was better to bail out about half way down then face the fear of going down the rest of the stairs. So he fell off his bike and rolled down the rest of the stairs, he was lucky really, only had a broken arm but all I could think at the time to say to him was "You complete idiot" and then I took him to the hospital.

I supose no back breaks is my fault, but the lady he himmer also had absoluteley no respect for other pedestrians and bikers.
In he drivers school i lerned that respecting other drivers and pedestrians (especially bikers, we did an entire lesson of 2 wheeled vehicle drivers) is very important. I have also learned that when you are driving you have to look to all sidesto make sure you won't threaten anyone or noone threatens you.

Worst Wipeout was without doubt Wipeout Fusion for Playstation 2. An absolute travesty that should never have been released. I'm eagerly anticipating the release of Wipeout Pulse on PSP.

I usually lie in these kinds of threads, but this is the truth:

Not really a wipeout, per se, but I broke my foot when I was really young (the doctors assume it's around the age of 5). I never knew what was wrong, and I wasn't in pain, but my foot was kinda messed. I was born with my feet a bit crooked, and by the time I was in Grade 6 I was twisting my ankle every single day! If you can imagine how crappy that is--- well it was crappy! In PE class we'd have to run laps and after two minutes I'd just fall down because I twisted my ankle. My teachers became aware that something was wrong.

So I had three surgeries to straighten my feet and the doctors discovered that I had a long past broken bone in my left foot. Bizarrely my feet are straight now but I still have a bone that sticks out on the left side of my foot.

But I guess I'm lucky to have never had to endure stitches when I was awake, or anything like that.

Haha @ Scraggle.

Recently I was driving a Dune Buggy at my friends house, and he was ahead of me on a dirt bike. We went through a tight turn, and I slowed down and turned to follow him, but I hit a tree. I was going slow though, so it didn't do anything. Problem was, the gas pedal was stuck, and I drove right up the tree and flipped over. If there wasn't a roll bar there, I would've broken my neck. I did break my left arm, though.

I can stop a bike just fine without brakes. Just put your foot on the rear tire just behind the seat, its like a super brake pad/shoe.

I just remembered another spill I took back in middle school/highschool (I forget which). There's a long, slighly curved, downhill bike path (its black-topped) that goes under the main. I had to be doing like 40mph on rollerblades. Well, it doesn't take much to throw off balance at that speed. Fortunately, knowing I was about to dive into the ground at extreme speed, I was able to kick myself sideways just enough to hit the edge of the grass and roll the 100 yards out on that instead of the cement. Scratched knee, but the rest of me was ok considering how much I really could've scratched off.

Took some short video clips of me this past week, think I may know why my back went went out Thursday night.

That's insane Phaelax!

My worst wipeout was when I was about 11, hit a lamp post on my BMX and smashed my knee on the crossbar on the way over - I howled like a little girl!.

Never badly hurt myself on a mountainbike, came off it a few times but always seem to land in a neat little bundle. I used to have these side bar things on my handlebars, and they saved my hands a few times, imbedded them into a few trees!.

We're going down... in a spiral to the ground...

I crashed on my bmx once and got the handle bar jabbed into my chest when I fell. I would've cried like a little girl.....had there been any air left in my lungs.

I don't get enough outdoor excitement to warrant a decent crash report here which is all well and good, but I do feel a little left out.

Probably the luckiest bike crash I've ever been in was when I went head over handlebars. I say I was lucky because I didn't get too badly scraped up. Just my hands a bit, I wasn't going ridiculously fast or anything, but I was carrying a pair of rollerblades or something by the straps and they got caught up in my front wheel.

wipeout by blackout: speeding down a hill after far too many cans of redbull, passed out, the bike still going straight don the hill with me asleep at the handlebars, until i woke up in a serious high, went giddy and decided to chase a pheseant up a curb sideways without jumping up th curb or anything, and subsequently did a superman over the handlebars.

another accedent i've had is while powerkiting, a gust of wind was strong enough to cause the kite to yank my arm from its socket while i was already mid jump. upon landing on the same shoulder, it popped back into place.

me and a friend were riding bikes once, going pretty fast. i suddenly stopped, looked back, my friend was going right at me. a thought of a very painful crash went through me. So he smashed into the back of my bike very hard, both bikes went flippy, but somehow amazingly non of us were even near getting hurt in any way in this one. we were both amazed of how this turned out.

haha discovered... good attempt at a cover though.

Also PAGAN you seem pretty disaster prone

Probably the worst that happened to me... cycling home from school but my brakes didn't work and there were people walking on the cycle path next to a thin part of the road so I had to go out in front of the traffic and try and get up to about 35 MPH from about 8 in a couple of seconds. It didn't really work. Back tire got hit by a 4*4, went flying headfirst over the handlebars, landed on my face/forehead and my bike landed on me. That was fun. Didn't get too badly hurt though, but it kinda put me off cycling for a while...
