If you are wanting to have control over ambience in your level, please be aware of what I have discovered just now:

If you set the ambient in your level, then you MUST keep at least ONE light on in your game... if all the light entities are de-activated during the game, then the engine will AUTOMATICALLY throw on the default ambient setting of "75".

I just had an issue with this and found that out in the source code.

Happy scripting.

this is mentioned at the beginning of the manual. It says that that is meant to help out newbs who might wonder why their game is pitch black. The learning curve is steep enough. lol

Lol, I was not aware of this.

I'm not a newb, and I was wondering whenever I turned the lights in the room off, WHY the heck everything became extremely bright!

It's also a little weird for them to do this because the default ambience WITH lights is 25... I figured it would have been a little smarter to just set the ambience at default at the START of the program and NEVER change the ambience automatically during run-time, because if the lights got turned off, then obviously the player did it and it was intentional. But that's just MHO.

Scripting, would be the short answer.

The detailed answer would be:

AMBIENCE=X, where X is the percentage of ambience you desire. (0-100)
AMBIENCERED=X, where X is the red value you want for the ambient light. (0-255)
AMBIENCEGREEN=X, where X is the green value you want for the ambient light. (0-255)
AMBIENCEBLUE=X, where X is the blue value you want for the ambient light. (0-255)

Alternatively, press < or > during gameplay to change the ambient.

Another thing that you should be aware of is that when you upgrade to the next version, the ambient and all the seetings return to normal, until you click on the build game button on the file menu

Strange... I wouldn't have thought that would have any effect on things in-game.

If I ever upgrade (Once the source comes out) I'll have to remember that, and/or program a workaround.
