I just bought a brand new 19" LCD monitor and was dissapointed to find one hot pixel on the screen because I just know the shop wont exchange it for this.

So I was searching the internet and came across this..

http://udpix.free.fr

I thought it wouldn't have any effect but 30 mins later "Holy Carp Batman!" it's dissapeared!!!!!

You're lucky, it was a stuck pixel and not a dead one.

Stuck pixels are simply ones where the crystals have been bent and litteraly stick in that position. By cycling through colours continually (didn't check that link, I assume that's what it does), it forces the pixel to bend and once it's free, then, no worries!

Another method is to apply a small amount of pressure while it's turning on. This should allow it to bend back into its 'starting' position whilst the new position is sent to it.

If, however, you have a dead pixel, you're dead out of luck.

I fixed a dead pixel on my Gateway monitor just by tapping it a few times - shame the same doesn't work for my DS's dead pixel.

I wrote a program in DB to cycle the colours and managed to fix my brothers LCD that way, left it running over night.

Wouldn't quickly changing between black and white do the trick faster then using multiple colors? With black all crystals are off and with white all crystals are on. If you for example do a blue color then only blue crystals are on.

Lucky me, I've never had a dead or stuck pixel in my whole life

Van, I've read in a few places that Nintendo will replace a single dead pixel DS under warranty. Obviously likes to keep it's customers happy as no other manufacturer does this!

CRT monitors also have a better picture but the downside is that they weigh a ton and take up half the desk. Since the day I replaced my 17" CRT for a 19" LCD I've had so much more room on the desk I never want to switch back.

Of course I would prefer one with 8 or 4 ms, mine have 16 ms and if you rotate the camera in a 3D game it all becomes blurry. I got it cheap though and my outdated stationary computer is currently standing on a desk at my parents house so I'm not really bothered with it ATM. It's only slightly faster then my laptop.

If it's one lousy pixel why is it so bad?

Not even a strait suit, you, caramel, the recycling bin, uber code, and chuck norris combined can keep me safe from me. Mostly cuz I exist.

Van, have you tried to fix the stuck pixel?
Maybe with this?

If not, I can whip up a quick NDS specific one if you like?

I disagree there, I have an lcd at work, and it's really the best monitor I've ever used. Maybe a really expensive crt could beat it, but I'll be buying flat screens from now on

I use to install Primestar dishes and in the SouthWest the sun would turn the LCD VU meter mostly black real quick if you left it exposed.

To fix it, we'd stick the meter in the freezer for about an hour, and after a little warm up time it'd work perfectly.

I don't know if this will work in your case. If you do try it, make sure all the condensation "dew" internally has dried before you apply power.

No matter where you go, there you are.

What LCD monitor? And what cheap $80 CRT are you comparing it to? I still think my $600 westinghouse LCD isn't as great as my $450 Viewsonic CRT.

See, I would never spend $450 on a CRT

I've got some kind of dell monitor, 1280x1024 resolution. My brother bought a 300 dollar crt that I am comparing it to

I can't afford any top of the line monitors, so I'll stick with a 200 dollar flat screen over a 200 dollar crt

When I look at this CRT I'm on right now I can't believe I ever got by with it. The screen has a bowing effect, the screen is ever so slightly blurry, dust and smudges show up alot more, there's the ugly black line around the screen of wasted space, the contrast just isn't there in comparison to an LCD.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot, I've trid Undead Pixel for a good deal of time on my laptop, it never seems to work. Also, the red stuck pixel I have on my laptop doesn't appear until the screen warms up a bit. It's rarely there when I turn it on, usually takes a few minutes. I have a green stuck pixel as well but it comes and goes as well. I see it maybe once a month at most. It's weird.

I can say the same about the CRT we have, it's absolutely terrible. I was so happy to get this LCD, it kicks its ass in just about every way.

yer LCD is better. CRT has better quality, but the size, weight and curved screen makes it annoying
