Amongst all the other problems I have with vista niggling at my brain, I want to play Manhunt (Yes the fairly old, stupidly violent one) but everytime I start it up, it tells me "manhunt.exe has stopped working" and of course, never gives me a soloution... Anyone help me with this??? I'd love you forever

Okay, listen carefully.

First, find the box in which the computer was delivered. Unplug your PC, remove all cables and put every cable in the box. Now pick up the big box with the 'On' button on it, and put it in the box as well. Put all things that are relevant with it, and seal the box. Bring it back to the shop where you bought it and tel them you're too stu...

Compatibility Mode, maybe? Found nothing on Google.

Do this on the exe: "Right click/properties/Compatibility" select "Run as administrator" (my windows isn't in English so the name of this option may vary) and also choose the "compatibility with XP Sp2" in the compatibility option It should work now cuz I'm able to play Quake 3 in windows vista and Quake 3 its older than manhunt so far...

Hope that helps.

@tha_rami
Dont talk to me like a i'm a stupid little kid trying to get his Tweenies dvd working, it pisses me off your just lucky you live way too far away for me to ever possibly meet you.
But of course I tried compatability mode, but its one of the most useless things I have ever seen in my life.

Anybody got anything useful to say?? Thanks.

Edit:
@Sopo the tocho
Thanks, but I already tried it, and like most of vista's features, it didnt work.

Hah.

I wish you luck with it though. It seems it is mostly on Dualcore PC's or with Business edition. Which one do you use?

You can't really improve on XP's reliability much at all. Mine has crashed twice in five years on commercial games I haven't been fiddling with, both times when playing Halo online. It was only inevitable that Vista was going to be less reliable.

Well, Vista hasn't crashed on me in the 6 months or something that I run it, even in this stage of 'development'... I'm happy.

Because you would what? hurt him? Why? Do you feel so inferior to him that you would need to cause him harm? We're not three years old at the TGC forums, so why don't you keep the schoolyard trash talk exactly where it should be. And besides you have every right to feel inferior to him, I mean you are inferior... Afterall, if The_Rami wanted to, he could play manhunt...

Seriously, though, how often has XP locked up completely on you? On the rare occasion an application crashes through something that's not my doing (and I can't remember the last time I did this), I simply ctrl-alt-del and get rid of it. Done. You really cannot beat it, unless a perfect system (which is unlikely) comes out.

just dual boot vista, xp, and/or a Linux distro, then when you get fed up with one, switch to something else

learn blender, you will never regret it.

Vista is a bit of a pain. You will need to get an udate from the people who made the game. I had the same problem with Track Nations which was a free game I got with a Direct X 10 card! The copy protection software was screwed in Vista (so why give with a DX10 card is crazy) had to go get some fixes and now I'm sorted.

Nemesis,
Oh I can play it, id just like to be able to play it without reverting back to XP now that im all mostly comfortable with vista.
Hey look, Nemesis cant help, mayaswell give up, cos if he and of course The_Rami (who has tried a little to help, thanks) cant do it, then its impossible.

Sorry if I seem to rub off as childish, but I dont like people who can rip me on a forum, but wouldnt dream of it in person, cos really, they have no life at all, spending 20 of their 24 hours on a computer.

Thanks (helpful) guys, guess ill have to bug R* to fix it, doubt they're gonna be to bothered about an old banned game anyway though.

Much of the engine is recycled from Trackmania Sunrise.

Hey, Natflash, I'm very sorry if you didn't get the joke (I'm terrible at humor) - I tried to help but just started off on a 'funny' tone.

Don't give me that 'wouldn't dare in real life crap'. You don't know me, I don't know you. How can you say what I would and wouldn't dare?

No hard feeling, I hope. And again, good luck with it.

To others: no reactions to this, come on, lets keep it on-topic.

BTW. It's tha_rami.

People in my flat are having troubles with Vista, random internet problems, two guys had to use the reboot disk to fix it and lost all of their data on their laptops.

And I'm sitting there saying 'Haha I have XP-SP2 and it works and I haven't had a single problem with the internet, just performance issues as it's ancient'

I'm very skeptical about the Vista upgrade, it has really made me wonder about it, I've heard plenty of good things and plenty of bad things. But hey, I'm really hoping to get a Mac, I mean the student discount on them in nice and as I've applied to work at an Apple shop I hope I'll get an extra discount then. (If I get the bloody job)

I don't have anything against Windows, I get along with XP beautifully now that I know how to use it, I never used to, but me and XP are friends, but most new laptops come with Vista and are engineered towards this new Vista age and thought, 'I don't play PC games often, and well though I'd sacrifice DBP for Torque, but you know, I could boot camp it or buy 'Parallels Desktop' if need be.

But hey, lets do a little dance, Vista is not for everybody.

I shot the sheriff

I don't feel the need to whip my dick out and see who's bigger... doesn't mean i wouldn't be able to "rip u" new in real life... being a bouncer and all kinda proves ones ripping skills... annd if you knew nething you would know u need a good 8 hours sleep, maybe thats why you come of as slightly mentally handicapped, not enough sleep.
