hey mates, im trying to buy a cheap 2nd hand 1U, 2U or blade server but im not sure yet.

Im gonna get it hosted (coloation) and im gonna host some css servers for rent on it. I was wondering if i should get a 1U, 2U or blade server to do this.

atm im looking at a 1U server

im wanting to host 4 css servers on it but idk. Just asking all u server ppl if its a goodish 1 for the price

We use proliant servers in about half our banking branches, not too many bad issues with them that I'm aware of. Maxtor drives I'll never trust. How much ram is in that sever?

it says above, 1gig, but ill make it 2gig
i also dont trust maxtor, but im not sure yet. Only prob with that server is that it doesnt seam to have RAID

You'd only need 2gigs if you plan to host 10+ CS:S servers, the main thing you need is a fast CPU if you plan to have high user counts as all the physics, client simulation etc can put a strain on the CPU. Also make sure the HDD can read fast because some CS:S maps are quite large and if you have lots of maps 80gigs won't be enough.

Yeah, if you want a reliable server, use some kind of raid, possibly get 4 drives and do mirroring AND striping for optimal speed/reliability.

i know a bit about css server hosting because i run 1 from home, its just the amount of CPU power i need is the wtf bit..
does anyone have a 1U, Dual Xeon, RAID server they wanna sell 2nd Hand sorta cheap to help a young kid's future??
