I am wanting to know if any of you have experience with ddr-3 ram yet and what is your opinion of it over ddr-2

I have a motherboard that supports it, but I am wavering over the cost

I've been reading a lot about DDR3 lately and right now is not the time to upgrade. Sure DDR3 are much higher clocked but even the best DDR3 have so high latencies that they are barely better then DDR2. It's not worth the high price.

Suggest you do more research on what the new versions of DDR actually add over just clock speed.

I'd also seriously suggest making sure all of your clock speeds match not just the RAM, FSB and CPU clock but also the GPU and GDDR clocks.

Quality Branded heatsink DDR2 2Gb matched pair (two 1Gb sticks) running in dual memory mode should give the best performance and support legacy 32bit apps like Dark Basic Pro the best.

If you go 4gb you'll probably end up with some 64bit compatibility issues.
