Does anyone know why the view button doesn't always work?

I've just posted an image and when I try to view it using the View button I get the attached error message.

This often (but not always) happens when I post an image and I recall someone else mentioning it recently. The image can be downloaded though - it's just the View button that fails for some reason.

Looks like your browser isn't receiving the content-type correctly.

Personally, I've never seen that message, but if I were the writer of the site, my first point of attack would be to blame IE, then see what work-around I could hack in.

(Had to do it a number of times on my own site!)

It does indeed sound like the browser doesn't recognise the MIME type being handed to it. I am pretty sure Apollo hands out the correct MIME types because I haven't had any problems here. When all else fails I am pretty sure your browser looks at the extension of the file, which in this case is output by a script so it won't know what to do with .php files.

Mine never does that. Is your browser up to date? Is there any plugins that could be interfering with MIME installed?

Since the other one was scaring you guys so much...

There is a bug that only happens with IE if the file extension is in uppercase.

piccy.JPG causes a problem for instance whereas piccy.jpg is just fine.

I gotten the worst one ever... I came across a glitch which allowed me to change my name and lost my avatar and sig.
This happened to me ages ago aswell... If anyone remembers I used to be "Deathead STD" Now I'm just "Deathead".

Thanks everyone.

Looks like Spooky hit the nail on the head. A quick check of recent cases where I've had this problem shows they are all screenshots which I've saved in MSPaint - which unhelpfully makes the extender uppercase by default.

I'll try to remember that trap.

Heh, IE strikes again with another bug that could have been squashed with even half an hours testing...

Oh well
