If i where you i should change that to a 2 sided plain model
with a alpha texture to it.

It would save framerate a lot.

By the way...how many polys is it?

I think you use the same ammount of polys for your grass as for a character.

I think he means you have to reduce the polys (2 sided plain model) and the alpha information in the texture will do the same effect as it looks now.
