OK, I want you to post here links to sites/youtube videos/myspace of a band from your country. It doesn't have to be a well-known band, but if you find them good enough post it here...

Sweet Noise - alternative/metal/hardcore
-Website: http://sweetnoise.org
-MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/sweetnoise

Gorgoroth - Black metal
Not a very known band, only non-live song i found from them on youtube that was worthy to post here, is "Devil", but it's featured as a background song for a Dragon Ball Z AMV. It's my favorite song by the band though.

Devil

Susperia - extreme metal
I don't listen to these guys that much, but they have a couple of good tunes.
Home sweet hell
Chemistry

A-ha (Don't mock me!) - pop rock
Everyone know this one. Take On Me
Forever not yours

Dimmu Borgir - Death/extreme Metal
Puritania <--favorite song, get's my head rotating on it's pivot. (local z coordinate).
Progenies of the great apocalypse <--not really suitable for younglings. This song makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, maybe i'm a sick person, but i rather enjoy everything apocalyptic.

That'll do for the moment, but there are so many other great british bands.

EDIT: @Grandma: I like A-Ha, but Gorgoroth and Dimmu Borgir? They're ok, but there've got to be better bands... They're hardly amazing...

EDIT 2: I thought it would be too hard to explain what they played in a way which would be accurate. But I added it in now.

Also

Spectrum 7 - light, melodic rock-trance hybrid.
Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/spectrum7

EDIT 3:
Gallows - dischordant punk

I work with these guys, they're called suffer syndrome, well I work with the singer. They're all cool guys and they draw a pretty nice crowd when they play.

http://www.myspace.com/suffersyndrome

They landed a show with a well-known band here which is great, they're getting pretty popular now.

Grandma, I hate you, your country has kickarse bands.

Well there are some obvious bands from England...so no point mentioning them.

So I'll hookup to my MySpace and link you to some 'less' known stuff.

My Room Mate's Band from Birmingham, UK - The Part Time Punks (they're thinking of a new name) - he's the lead singer:
http://www.myspace.com/theparttimepunks
Style: Old Skool Punk

Uh, Pink Punk is Brian 'Yap' Barry's new work - he was ex-frontman/singer for One Minute Silence before they split up. This stuff is really DJing mixed with Political and philosophical slam poetry:
http://www.myspace.com/pinkpunx

I'd post a link to My old Philosophy teacher's myspace as he does a bit of DJing, but I don't have it.

And that's it for now...I guess I could name other cool band we all know...Like

Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath
Led Zepplin
Rolling Stones
Sex Pistols
The Clash
Eric Clapton
Gary Moore
Cream

Am I rubbing it in to anyone who isn't from England yet?

I wasn't born in Denmark, but that's my ethnic origin.

I was born in Canada but there's too many bands from here to name.

Double post, I know----

Great songs by Canadian artists:

Guess Who - American Woman - Fun fact: The guy on guitar (Randy Bachman) used to live on the same street as me, and I found a guitar pick on his lawn when I delivered the newspaper to his door one Saturday. I was very happy

The Tragically Hip - Bobcaygeon

Serena Ryder - Good Morning Starshine - Great new Canadian artist doing a cover of an old Canadian song -- I just love her voice

Gordon Lightfoot - If You Could Read My Mind - Canadian legend--- he's written so many classic songs

Neil Young - Heart of Gold

Neil Young - Old Man

Sarah McLachlan - Angel

Burton Cummings - I'm Scared

Barenaked Ladies - Jane

Weird Al - Canadian Idiot - Weird Al is not Canadian, but his song (a parody of American Idiot by Green Day) is hilarious

I'm sure there's more songs I'll remember as the days go by.

Cool. Seppuku I was quite surprised by your choices, considering the Opeth logo in your name. Not much heavy stuff...

He's from the United Kingdom, so he counts! Well at least in my book he would. I know I said 'am I rubbing it in for anyone who isn't from England' but ignore that bit, you don't need to be jealous of Gary Moore, I mean not many people will be jealous of an Irishman.

Hehe, I like a quite large variation of music - metal maybe what I am most into (Mostly the Norwegian and Swedish stuff) but my heart does lay in other quality music - I also will listen to Blues, Rock, Indie, Classical, Opera, Japanese, Rock and Roll, electro/techno, Industrial and even Rap, when it comes to Jazz I'm open minded, but I don't like most of it.

I'm mostly just a metal lad. A fair bit of rap, lots of drum'n'bass, maybe some darkcore techno or a bit of blues-rock, indie and new rave are pretty good, industrial has it's moments (especially combichrist) as do Classical (Rachmaninov was a genius) and I quite like some jazzy chord progressions (although I generally find entire jazz songs a bit boring). I'm not really familiar with Japanese music though... perhaps you could educate me.

My post keeps growing as I think of more bands and feel foolish for having left them out. There are loads of good bands around at the moment.

EDIT: haha I was just listening to that second Dimmu Borgir song, thinking "they're bet than I gave them credit for, but the reverb is annoying" Then I realised that I had 2 windows open playing a fraction of a second apart.

I still don't like his main voice. If he had that low death metal thing the whole way through it would be better, but his voice is too black metal for me.

Video's great though

That's because the style of music they play is called 'Norwegian Black Metal'...why the Norwegian in front, I don't know...perhaps it's Black Metal but better...

There's Safri Duo, but Jeku already mentioned them. Another very nice (rock)band is Nephew. Their texts are mostly in Danish, but you should be able to appreciate the music anyway :

Timbaland feat. Keri Hilson - The Way I Are (Nephew Remix) - http://youtube.com/watch?v=CRJiRxCnDSY

I don't really like this track that much, but it's a remix of a track many of you might know.

Nephew - Bazooka(Live) - http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xw67XqOc75k

It's hard to pick the best of Nephew, because it's all good! This is a live performance of Bazooka. Well, I like it... I don't know what more to say. Check out some of their other songs on youtube, you might end up liking the stuff

Another great, rather new band is Volbeat(a Danish metal band). Their most popular track is probably

The Gardens Tale - http://youtube.com/watch?v=eclMypNggQQ

The lyrics are a mix of Danish and English, but their other tracks are in English.

And then there is Anders Trentemøller(electronica):

Moan(Radio Remix, more fast paced than the original) - http://youtube.com/watch?v=6G5UGybYN-E

Evil Dub - http://youtube.com/watch?v=97fuFZbVVnw

Evil Dub resembles his other tracks better than the Moan Radio Remix. I personally find it very relaxing to listing too.

Damn my layout is horrible...

Well i hate you too. Iron Maiden was my favorite band (still ranks high) trough my early years, and if your reason to hate someone can be based on awesomeness of bands originating from country of origin then i hate you very much.

@Code Ninja: Kind of cheating don't you think, surely if you live in America you have enough awesome bands to mention

I saw Killswitch a few weeks ago. Amazing band live. There was such a fun wall of death for Rose Of Sharyn and I started a big old circle pit for Still Beats Your Name.

Why didn't you mention The Bled, The Black Dahlia Murder, Buried Inside, Death Cab For Cutie, Finch, Into The Moat, Ludacris, DMX, Obie Trice, Eminem, Norma Jean, Psyopus, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, The Acacia Strain, Prostitute Disfigurement, The Devil Wears Prada.... there are so many better American bands than Daath, Symphony X or Kamelot (although I've liked all of them in the past).

*shrugs* I kinda took the original post to be 'post bands you like from your country.' Being both a Canadian and American citizen I figured I'd post both.

*cringe* Most o' those I either don't like or never heard of. When it comes to music I like metal in almost all its forms (with some exceptions, of course), some hard rock, older classic rock artists, some classical, and video game music. Other than that I might listen to country if its playing... anything else I pretty much can't stand.

Anywho, more American bands... this time a little more mainstream (or at least my definition of mainstream) metal/rock:

Disturbed - Nu Metal
The Game

Korn - Nu Metal (I prefer their old stuff)
Blind

Godsmack - Heavy Metal/Hard Rock/Nu Metal
Straight Out Of Line

Offspring - Punk Rock/Skate Punk (One of the few punk rock bands I enjoy. Really like the string quartet tribute of this song, too.)
The Kids Aren't Alright

Nine Inch Nails - Industrial/Alt. Rock
The Hand That Feeds

Eighteen Visions - Metalcore(old stuff)/Post-Grunge, -Hardcore
Victim

Avenged Sevenfold - Metalcore(old stuff)/Hard Rock/Heavy Metal
Unholy Confessions (Old Stuff)
Bat Country (New Stuff)

I don't have time to go searching on YouTube for videos right now, so I'll just post the artists name and edit it later with the links.

Rascal Flatts - New Country

David Lanz - New Age

The Right Brothers - ummmm Country/Rock? Hopefully no one gets too mad about their songs' lyrics. There's nothing bad in them, it's just their point of view you may disagree with.

They are the most amazing band EVER. I can't describe how much I love them, because that would probably be against the AUP as it would go into incredibly graphic detail

I just figured out how to play a couple of their songs the other night so I'm going to get my band to play a cover of Red Wedding - should be fun...

Oh God I did it again! Don't tell Accoun...

Though to be fair, somebody lied to me and told me they're Irish. You sure they're American? Come on now, only the Irish and the English take the micky out of the Scottish...I mean I'd say Welsh too, but I'm sure Dazzag will back me up when I say the Welsh are lazy.

[edit]
I take it these American bands are trying to give themselves a European identity because they're younger than the rest of us.
