I dont plan on overclocking. My original processor is 1.8 ghz dual core, and hardly runs games such as Medal of Honor: Airborne. I have a GeForce 7500 and 2 gb ram. I also use a 22in widescreen monitor. Will this processor make my HP computer able to play advanced games? (With eventually a GeForce 8600???

Yes, from what I've read those are very good processors. I only went with an AMD because of money reasons. I didn't want to spend the extra for an Intel this time around.

The core 2 duo is the dogs danglies.

I've got the 2ghz version (clocked to 2.5) + 8600GT (Factory OC) and not found anything I can't run yet.

Open your case, don't touch anything. (I guess you know that) Look for the motherboard brand and serial number, then Google it. Look under CPU/Processor in motherboard details.
{edit} The CPU your looking at is a socket 755, an Intel only socket I think.

Well al it said on it was PSLP-LE. I did a saerch on google, but nothing showed up but some broken links. All i managed to find was that it was made by Asus. Most of the working sites were in different languages. I really need help if im going to get anything new working on this PC!!

EDIT: Ok, well it looks like im not the only one that made this mistake. The first s is realy a 5 (lol), but im not the only one who made this mistake! Here is the page on HP that i found out the details for: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00864946&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3356770&lang=en

Looks like its a 775 socket.

mikeh926, I just bought the E6750 processor, I load games so unbelievibly fast. I went from a P4 2.8e to this and UT2k4 loaded just as quickly as if I merely opened a new IE browser.

If the link you posted is your existing motherboard, then I think you'll be ok. It's an Asus with 775 socket. Other than an outdated chipset, it looks like a great board actually. (I bought an Abit with the newer P35 northbridge)

As you can imagine, im never buying a stock non-gaming pc again................ever!! lol My one question is whether or not with a dx10 graphics card, this processor will be able to handle the latest and greates games?

This is the processor I just got for my new build. Currently its the best value. But watch out its 1333mhz fsb and only some motherboards support that like my 680i mobo. Other than that its a great processor if you have the mobo to support it runs great for my build with an 8800gts and 2gb of ocz ram. Handles anything i throw at it with the stock heatsink and oc to 2.9ghz.

Let me look around, I think your socket is Dual-Only.
{Edit} A Pentium 4 is the only Single Core for this socket.

Im assuming you mean the 1333fsb in that case as long as you have a lga775 you could get one of the other core2's as long as the fsb is not like 400mhz or something in that case it be pentium 4's. BUt judging by the url you posted above you can still get a nice core 2! Just find one like the e6600 which is $20 more then the one above but will run with your motherboard and it is still a very good processor! Hope this helps!
