Wow, what the heck is going on? :/ Why have we got an exponential increase in total crap appearing here and else where in the forums?

I mean, we have ~7 locked posts on the front of geek culture alone, and 1 more definitely a candidate.

Well, erm, yeah, the forum is filling up with trash... anyone else seriously doubting the value of staying a member, or visiting this board?

[EDIT]: I suppose there is some irony here, I mean, this post in itself qualifies, since it lacks any point other than to state the obvious... but I suppose it's also a good way to prove my point (or rather, the point)

I posted before this got locked. Crap dude, this topic double qualifies for a lock: It's useless, and the same thing has been posted before 30 times.

My sig explains it all.

Warning: Please be advised. Geek Culture is under lockdown. All mods are set to Indi mode. Any and all topics WILL BE LOCKED. Post at your own risk!

Geek Culture is on lock down, as Agent Dink would put it.
The mods do a good job around here anyway.

Uhhhhhhh.... I forgot

Fair play, although I kind of missed the other threads regarding this; as most people do with search results and the like, I only really checked the first page..

But the main thing I was trying to get across with this was the question; anyone else doubting their membership to this forum? No idea whether it's just the apocalyptic-visionary within me, but I get the sense that this epic implosion of trash is signalling a downhill trend...

Although it has probably happened before, so I'm just pessimistic

EDIT: Ha, the "Solution to the useless threads' thing was bumped instantly after I posted this, so I concede, there is indeed another thread dealing with the same issue.

Let's put it like this: You've got a hexidecimal sig that undoes the copyprotection on HD-DVD's and thus don't qualify at all for any comment.

Naah, kidding. The main thing I'm getting across is that this thread adds absolutely nothing to eventual other threads about the lockdown. I don't think the mods give what the message you're trying to get across is, the message is too minor an addition to warrant a new thread. Seeing the lockdowns new rules, I'd say this qualifies for a lock.

Honestly, Geek Culture was more fun before all this lockdown crap Ok. So it wasn't all GEEK related topics, and by the AUP those are lockable offenses, but the board was the most fun board on the whole forum.

Where exactly was the lock down stuff said? I happened to miss all the 'fun' attached to it.

But yeah, Geek Culture has become a lot less enjoyable for its truly bizarre topics now that whatever this 'lock down' thing is, is in place. I mean, bizarre topics are ok, but now we have an influx of topics which just kill time or have no actual purpose other than to say something dumb.

Yes, this thread does count as the latter, and I know it, but I haven't really 'been around' much, so I just wanted to test the waters.

The Geek Forum will remain a fun place, nothing has changed other than the really low level, completely useless, substanceless, threads are being locked out of hand.

Hmm. I just hope you're right and the mods don't become overly strict. At this moment, I seem to be tending to agree with Agent Dink, although I fully understand and support the decision to clear the biggest crap.

There were just less threads in the past. There's the same amount of quality threads as there's always been.

Yeah it's on lock down, but less useful things, crazy stuff and banned discussion are being detoured to here:

http://cogito.66ghz.com/cogito/?q=forum

And hopefully people will refrain from putting crap on here, as I suppose the metaphor could be placed that I just installed a new toilet.

You're so right. Here's an example:

This is getting kinda annoying.

I am slapping all of those who post "I posted before this thread gets locked!" or something similar. It does nothing more than irritate and bump the offending thread.

But yes, the thread quality level has gone downhill these last few weeks, but we're cleaning it up now with the tools we have
