I agree with what the guy said in that link, not all DX10 features are available on XP (Geometry Shaders and so forth). But this tweak gets it damn close to DX10.
Edit: or I should say, damn close to the DX10 version of Crysis
Attached is the ready "tweaked" XP files. Just place it in .../Crysis Demo/Game/Config/ and be sure to backup the existing one.
On my system,
Pentium 4 3.4Ghz Hyper-threading enabled
2048 GB PC3200 400Mhz Memory
Sapphire x1950 Pro 512 MB GDDR3
Windows XP Pro SP2
I get ~17 FPS on average with all settings on high at 1280x1024 with no AA and with the tweak average falls to ~12 FPS.

However this game must not be optimized at all, that or the developer is craving mad (he is), because this game laggs so bad. I dunno it just seems like another shooter to me. Just that you need a supercomputer to play it is all."
From what I have read the game currently is not optimized for SLI or Crossfire and I have heard a lot of complaints that it is not using all cores on the CPU. But from what I have seen (from reading and testing myself) the game really is not all that CPU intensive, a Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with Hyperthreading enabled should carry it. My CPU runs at ~60-75% while the game is running. The game seems to require far more GPU power than anything else, I read somewhere (cant remember now) that Crysis was designed for next generation video cards and that I do believe.
Anywho... from what little the demo shows off the game is amazing especially with the XP tweak, at 17 FPS it was playable, fairly smooth, at 12 it was tolarable but was better left for the ooos and ahhhs.
