Hello people.

We had our radio launch party last night, had a lot of people turn up, get drunk, go absolutely mental etc. but that's not important. And we kicked up a lot of interest with our University Radio station.

Dne is a radio station hosted online by students at University of Derby, we're funded by the student union of course. We get world wide listeners and well, I'm hoping to draw your interest.

We air again next week (hence having a launch party) starting with Alex and Andy's show, Monday 10:00 am GMT. The music we play depends entirely on the show, our show consists of rock, blues, metal and perhaps some Jrock at a later stage. You can find mine and Jo's show on Fridays at 10:00 am GMT, now I don't present, that's Jo's job, but I am the producer, so you can wait for me to screw up on playing the tracks...I probably will, as my training consisted of 5 minutes in the room being told what does what.

I can't remember the exact time table, but there's quite a large selection of music. If you like JRock (as I'm sure some of you anime lot do) then look out for Kain's show...he might be calling it the 'Desu show' so look out for that.

Also, if you have a band and any demos, email me, so I can pass them onto the person in charge of that...but please, no swearing, political themes or anything non-family friendly...because we have a strict contract and broadcasting laws to abide by. Don't worry if you accidentally pass one through with that, because the music goes through an analysing process before we actually air it.

Anyway, here's the link for the radio station:

http://www.udsu.co.uk/d-one/

Enjoy! I know it's Friday, but it gives you time to check out the site before the Monday broadcast.

Question: Is it only JRock or all types of JMusic???

I think it's other types too, it's mostly something anime based...from the website (Under the 'Alecto and Visual Kain Happy Hour') the description is:

Quote: "”An electric show with strange music thrown in from bands you’ve possibly never heard of also, reviewing the latest anime movies and DVD’s, with lots of internet memes and meowing.”"

The meowing is Kain's thing...if you like strange, then you'll like him...the git put me off when Gwain was showing us the studio stuff, Jess was playing the Piano and he was meowing to it in a singing voice...He's a strange yet fun guy and I'm sure you'll see it in his show. Though his 'Hariki' dance does scare me a little.

Their show is on Friday 2:00pm - 4:00pm GMT.

You won't find our show advertised on the website yet.

The show is on air! In a few minutes Matthew Black's show is on and he's playing Rock and metal...I can't tell you what it is like because it seems the restrictions of living in halls and connecting to the internet are proving themselves. (Which seems strange, as Alecto from the Desu Show says he has been able to connect through the halls network and he's living two floors above me in the same block of flats)

Go on, take a listen:

http://www.udsu.co.uk/d-one/listen-now/

Apparently things are going well so far, though I am still worried myself, as I go on Air on Friday morning (producing, not presenting)

One thing I would be worried about again is Kain and Alecto's show, it's called the Desu Show now (last minute change) for anybody who likes Anime (not like me, I dislike the stuff) will know the whole joke behind 'desu' and as you can imagine they're including their own desu ideas/slogans...unfortunately I went ahead and influenced them by giving them their Radio slogan...'Cogito Ergo Desu' (Latin for 'I think therefore I desu'), I went as far as saying 'I'll design your banner' so yeah, those willing to listen:

Mine and Jo's show - Friday 10:00Am - 12:00PM GMT
Radio Desu with Alecto and Kain - Friday 2PM - 4PM GMT

You do realise D : One comes out as Dne, don't you?

Behave...

Nobody tried listening to it yet? I know we've had some internet troubles with the Radio (it's not been able to connect properly) hence I've not been able to listen myself. They believe the problem was their cable, I think it is being replaced tomorrow, one of the people in the meeting today said they had a spare they could give so, with any luck it'll connect.

But the connection problem seems to only exist in the University Network, we've had quite a few listeners apparently, but the President won't tell us until next week, so I'll post numbers then. Over the past couple of days we've had quite a few from Gibraltar...so some success.

Remember, Friday 10:00 GMT, don't miss it! (I may end up presenter, my Presenter is ill and I'm going to have to train somebody to do the producing if she doesn't turn up on Friday. So you might be lucky as to hear my lovely nervous voice - not allowed to say 'er' or 'um'...er well, that'll be hard, no swearing, well bugger that sucks and I just hope she turns up.

Just come back from first radio show and I hope you mugs listened - it went sort of well, couldn't get the bloody thing on air for 30 minutes - because we told that the computer we broadcast through has to dual boot to get the radio running. It went smoothish from there-on only two small mistakes on my behalf 1. I said they could contact us by email and didn't give our email address 2. One of the people who helped write our playlist didn't make it clear - I read 'track 15' but it was meant to be 'track 5' so I said "Now for Paranoid by Black Sabbath' then Black Magic Woman by Santana played.

We played a good selection of music (as feedback from Charlie and King Dave says)

I opened with some Saxon, we included some Opeth, Stratovarius, Symphony X, Rainbow, Queen, Thin Lizzy, Pink Floyd, Santana (of course ), Brian Adams and some other rock, metal and classics - unfortunately we didn't have any blues to play this week.

Also, apparently there seems to be a faulty microphone cable as King Dave pointed out as I passed him - so we might have been quietly speaking in some places.

Now Playing is Kat D's and Liam's show - the microphone problems seems to prevail. Of course they're playing more pop/chart music sort of things, but after than (in about an hour) you have the 'Desu Show' with Kain and Alecto, if you missed my show, then listen to theres...if you don't then you aren't very hip and certainly aren't cool.

Coolio...listen to D-One then Where you from then? I'm not actually from Derby, I'm just here for the university, I actually live just outside of Cambridge, though I suppose term time I 'technically' do live here.

Well, at the moment they're playing Dragonforce and well, the song I requested got played! That is, dare I say it, the Pokemon theme tune.

The current program (the desu show) is anime and power metal based.

You do song requests either via the text lines or the UDSU Forums:

http://udsuforums.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=8&sid=b95b8be2a14778df5a1085f893db99cd

I can't remember the number for the text lines, but they're read out during the shows. Much cheaper just to sign up to the forums and make a request. You make requests by visit the thread for the specific show.

Tomorrow morning guys, 10-12 GMT, just as a reminder before I go on air. I don't know if anyone caught it last week, but I think this week might be a bit more enjoyable.

Cool! Well, I just got back from it, and it was successful, we talked quite a bit more and added insane things about Aliens, which will be a weekly thing, random discussions about random topics and hopefully with random responses.

Well if anyone missed mine, catch Radio Desu in under an hour, though I'm not in it, my friends are and so is my guest co-producer.

I hope at least 1 person here caught it, if so, please leave any comments/criticisms about the show.
