I think a lot of people know about this website. But for those who don't there's a commercial game and an app. these guys give away for free every day.

Geeze, sorry guys, I plumb forgot to post the link.

How stupid of me. I must be half asleep. Imagine posting a link as a quote.

First off this might sound like advertising.

Secondly, if that's what it really is, then posting without a link makes you about the worst advertiser since whoever commisioned that advert with the kid marching along for frosties.

EDIT: OK never mind it wasn't there when I started posting

Geeze James, its not an advert. In fact I forgot to post the link in the first post. In fact I think I got some spyware once while trying one of the games. So you better run it throught AdAware or something after installing.

I doubt it's an advert. I found this site awhile back and it's pretty awesome. I just keep forgetting to check it every day. Lol.

Great website, sucks that you have to install it on the day.

I hate having extra this-and-that installed on my PC, but I download alot of free tools/utilities/games for when I may need them without ever having to install them.

It's a good idea, but flawed in the sense I just stated

Jess,
You know half my drive is cluttered with stuff I'm never going to use, but I keep going back because I never know what goodies are coming.
I noticed that they have a Patent Pending for the site idea.
What I can't figure out is the modus operandi. If they pay all the developers, where is the moolah coming from. Adsense? Wierd...

You know their servers keep going down because of the traffic. So I can imagine it must be just the AdSense income???

Digital Awakening,
They got so much traffic their severs keep passing out.
I too am getting the Error thingy.

I was just wondering what their daily Profit and Loss statement looks like.
Pay the game developer $200 to $300
Pay the app. developer $ 200 to $1000
Income from AdSense $ 10000
Net Profit per day $8000+

I think I'm in the wrong business

They don't pay the developer anything, instead they provide the developer with free advertising. The developer would probably give the basic version away for free, and then advertise in the application for the professional version

I can't get the game to work. When I run it, I get a Memory Access Violation. Anybody else have that problem? I'm running Vista. (I tried compatibility mode and run as administrator too)

What sucks is I only have today to get it working if getting it working involves reinstalling it (because of the activation thing). Of course...I could possibly take a screenshot of my files/registry with the free application they gave away, and then register the game, and then take another snapshot, and then............

So yeah...

[EDIT]Dang I've got a lot of registry keys...
[EDIT2]17,000,000 registry keys later...still not done! argh!!!

All profit, no loss. No wonder they have a patent on the idea.
Now I'm sure I'm in the wrong business.

@Jeff
Don't fret. They've given away Neoball before and will do so again most probably. I still got it. Nice breakout clone.
And about the activation. From my experience, you shouldn't click on 'Run Application Now' in the last setup screen. This causes some problems in activating. Never run the app. immediately after installation. First activate the app. with the attached key. Then run it. This way you won't have activation problems.

where do you find the game giveaway? The only giveaway I see is an app.

As has been said before, you can only install the game on the day of the giveaway-- it tries to access the server to ensure it's the correct date. In my opinion you might as well buy the crappy game in the first place

@Agent Dink

On the top right hand corner of the page. It takes you to the page where only the games are put up.
I only wish they would give away some hard core FPS, RPG types instead of the casual games. So far I've only seen one or two.

Oh well, I pulled the key from the registry with the small chance that I ever get it working and that what I pulled out actually does some good.

I sent a message to support so I'll see what happens...

I must be blind or else they removed the link Mamaji4.

I attached an image of the top of the page. Any further ideas?

Geeze, they've removed the link and the webpage as well.
I think its at
http://games.giveawayoftheday.com
but it redirects me back to the main site. I'm not sure of this URL, but I'm assuming that since it redirects me back to the main site it's a valid link.

Well they're going to have to pay for server hosting, maintenance, and staff, at the very least. Then there's marketing (assuming they did any), accounting, legal, etc. No business is loss-free, there will always be a certain degree of overhead.

I downloaded some games from here. I personally thought they were all boring.
