As much as I might agree with your philosophies about the two-party system being bogus, I still feel that getting a decent person in office will require sacrifices, and I doubt we'll see the two-party system leveled in the next few presidential elections. And I really do like Obama's message (which I'll get to shortly).

And if Ron Paul was planning on quitting the Republican party down the road, why didn't he save a bit of money and register as a Democrat (according to Stephen Colbert, registering as a Democrat candidate costs something in the neighborhood of $2,500, whereas registering as a Republican costs $35,000)? He billed himself in the past as a "True Republican," and once said something to the effect of his party being hijacked by the misfits running things currently (I think that was said on Bill Maher?).

Quote: "I not actually sure what Obama stands for, I don't think I have ever heard him say anything about his platform, only dissing others."

Well, he certainly panders to the mudslinging fans out there, I can't argue that. But his speeches are filled to the brim with his ideals and plans: getting rid of lobbyists, ending the war (he's been against it from the beginning, unlike Hillary, and also has a plan to get us out), promoting environmentalism and alternative fuels, election reform, improving our public image in the rest of the world, and a slew of other issues.

I disagree with his ideas about improving health care though. I think the only way to fix the health care crisis in the United States is to get rid of insurance companies and opt for universal health care, as has been proven to work in Great Britain and Canada. I'd pay extra taxes, without complaints, to never have to deal with insurance companies ever again. A woman recently died in the waiting room of a hospital, and as I understand it, it had to do with her not having health insurance. It's a pandemic and needs to be stopped.

And while I'm complaining, let's reform pharmaceutical corporation operations while we're at it. Am I the only person in the United States who recognizes the serious threat we're facing from these drug peddlers? I want a politician to take a stand against what these companies are doing. They create a drug which cures the symptoms of some medical problem, which creates side effects healed by other drugs, and the chain keeps rolling along until you're more sick than you were when you started out. Find me one person in the world who actually suffers from "restless leg syndrome," and truly needs that medication, I dare you! These companies are getting rich at the expense of human lives, and most people don't seem to care. And I'm sure someone will accuse me of inventing an issue, or being some sort of conspiracy theorist, but I honestly think this is an epidemic and needs to be stopped before it's too late. I was a kid in the 1980's and no one I knew was as "sick" as they are today, and if you need to find the culprit, you don't need to look much further than the drug ads running on TV 24/7/365. Someone should speak out against that .

Thanks for clarifying Matt Rock.

Quote: "I'd pay extra taxes"

However I don't know about this. Because my teacher, who used to live in england and Scotland said that the taxes were up at 65% because of all of the programs that we don't have. SO I'm not sure that paying massive amounts of taxes is the problem. I think we should make other programs work better, an example would be welfare, its good in theory and poor in execution. I mean, some people stay on it for so long and no one seems to do anything about it, where as people who really need it are getting put off it. I mean its more of a "Go ahead, be lazy!" plan to me. I think we should limit the time anyone can be on those programs before they get kicked off. Because people seem to just get on it and say to them selfs "Why should I go out and get a job when i just get free money?". Case and point, fix the programs that don't work first.

My two cents.

I thought people would talk about how Stephen Colbert isn't better than Chuck Norris.

I guess that means... STEPHEN COLBERT IS THE NEW KING!!!

Oh, I'm so sorry to tell you folks. This is Stephen Colbert. I sensed that Veintitres died, came to his dead body and found Chuck Norris admiring is manly-hood that Chuck could never actually have. I killed Chuck Norris, because Chuck Norris looked me in the eye. Dead in the eye.

If only you favored me over Chuck; then his tiny amount of manliness (that's invisible to the naked eye) would have no effect on you.

But fear not; I am still alive and always will be, and you can still favor me, Stephen Colbert, over Chuck Norris. But be quick, my friends, for time is running out.

Was Colbert running for President of the United States, or was he running for "President of South Carolina?" I didn't know states had presidencies, lol.

I'd say Stephen Colbert could beat Chuck Norris in an arm-wrestling competition. But he injured his wrist over the summer, so we'll never know which is more manly I guess.

And btw, his interns seem to always scour the internet for any mention of Colbert, so wouldn't it be funny if TGC got a mention on the Colbert Report? We should all post pictures of bears and REALLY ensure this thread gets on television, lol.

Pffft. You're not so great, what the hell did you ever do? You ran for president and failed and you're on a comedy central talk show. Versus what Chuck Norris did?

Chuck Norris need not post as every user on the forum he posts on "mysteriously" dies of round house kicks to the head.

Indeed he did. Is reminded of movie "Happy Gilmore" where Bob Barker beats the crap out of Adam Sandler
