I got reinterested in the game of life after Obese87 posted his WIP, so Im posting my version. It might not work well on slow computers yet. Right click to erase.

Ok,bizar
The default rules are
2 or 3 neighbors, the cell lives.
Less than 2 neighbors, it dies of loneliness.
More than 3 neighbors, it dies of overcrowding.
if it has exactly 3 neighbors (and is empty) it gives birth to a live cell!
You can create some pretty cool patterns (my favorites are the glider and glider gun).
The finished product will have editable rules, and you can determine whether it will check diagnols.

It's fun to stop it and add in some more cells, it's also very cool to speed up.

because the 'game of life' IS the life system. The idea of having individual cells interacting with each-other is called cellular autonomy.

What does it do?!
I ran it, put some dots down, and nothing seemed to happen. at all.

You need to press the returnkey to make it run.

Adding your own rules might be slow. I took a go at it once, and when you make it fully customizable, the frame rate drops really quickly...

It's the programmer's life:
Have a problem, solve the problem, and have a new problem to solve.

Cool

Somewhere, (I forget where), I saw another one of these, except the logic was done entirely on the GPU with a shader. I'll have to see if I can find it again.

@aluseus g-d, this is NOT the kind of game where you should say

I only know what your game does because of the other posters in your thread. Please add a description.
