This article shows the potential of the latest DDR3 RAM modules compared to various older modules, including DDR2.

My personal opinion is that the improvement is too small to invest money in, at least for the home user. As long as you have enough memory a good CPU and graphics card will do a lot more.

BTW, Qimonda have just shipped test modules of GDDR5 to their customers, they are about twice as fast as the fastest GDDR3 modules today. But don't mix GDDR (for graphics cards) and DDR up

I was just looking for another gig of memory for my pc and I cant seem to find it on newegg My original receipts list my memory as:

512MB 240pin DDR2 533/400 PC 3200
(for mobo ASUS P5GD2 Deluxe)

I have 2 pieces of those using 2 of 4 slots on the mobo. I was considering adding another gig (2x512mb) or at least just pricing it. Is my memory so old that its not available anymore? I cant see that being the case.

My DBP plugins page is now hosted [href]here[/href]

Look like it, I can't seem to find anything lower then 667 MHz. There's also 800 MHz and 1000 MHz DDR2 available. 2 GB is pretty much minimum these days, at least for modern 3D games. Your best bet might be to find someone selling used modules or you may have to upgrade your whole system (MB, CPU, GPU and RAM).
