Where would you post it? Here in Geek Culture?
Personally I think that would be double posting. After all, the reason there is a WIP forum is for WIP posts. If you start making new threads in other forums linking to it then its basically spamming.

Of course, if someone asks about something in one of the other forums and your WIP may be relevant, then I think its fine to offer them a link to it.

You could put your wip posts in your signature or a link to a site with all your projects or something like that...

Warning: Please be advised. Geek Culture is under lockdown. All mods are set to Indi mode. Any and all topics WILL BE LOCKED. Post at your own risk!

Well I mean if you have a lot and you just wanted people to return to them, I don't see any problems with it. I mean it might even get stickied if they are good enough.

If you click on my sig you'll find the answer...

Seriously though, if you have multiple WIPs then it's unlikely that you'll finish any one of them. Try and focus.

No.

It's double posting.

Actually, I remember a few years back somebody posted a thread with links to all the games they made (5-10 if I believe). That is acceptable in my opinion, as that was several years of work. It might have been Drew Cameron.

But if it's anything less than 5-10 finished games, I wouldn't bother as a mod will likely see it as double posting and lock it. People earn respect with finished titles in my opinion.

Exactly.

Cash put it best. Concentrate on one, get it done, then post a Program Announcement about it.

Linking to WIPs is just showing people you can't finish a game before you get bored.

Like I said, it's double posting, so it'll be locked

This is another one of those things that really begs it's own feature in the forum - like say we could have a list of links accessible from our profiles, then we could have links to our games, WIP, stuff like that.

We already can...

Open the user's profile, then use the drop-down box under "Threads" to select "Work in Progress", hit 'Search', and you've got a list of all the threads that user has started in the WiP board.

I guess you could also post links to all your other WIPs in each WIP thread you already have in the first post or something, that way it isn't double posting. I think that would be acceptable anyway. Just an alternative.

In regards to features, I think a "user respect" system may be pretty cool. People would hit a button on the users profile that'd say if they like or dislike said user <Just an idea though... Not bugging for it>.

But yeah, I agree with such a system where it'd link to more of the user's projects instead of just WIPs or finished. In this way there would be a ranking system for the projects, and a "state" system, linking to the appropriate thread <The Program Announcements, WIP, etc>, as well as what category <Game, Application, Plugin, Music/Audio, 3D Model(s), 2D Artwork(s), etc>, as well as perhaps a link to the latest download... And all this would be manageable by the user through the "user settings" area <Or whatever it's called... Same area as that notes thing>. Hey, I can dream can't I?

Cheers,

-naota

I know what you mean Jess, but we're unlikely to ever do that - imagine though if there was an icon beside the profile button that you could click and get a list of all a users projects - I'd be much more likely to click that and see what they've been upto.

Whatever happened to the Project Space Rich was going to set up?

I remember them actually having it ready (along with the new version of Apollo), but it... Didn't happen?
