i have had the idea recently of creating a group on the steam community for the TGC Forums (anyone on here [who has a steam account obviously] can join) this way we can see how good everyone is at gaming and not just games dev

does anybody else here think this is a good idea?

EDIT:
The Group is now up and running, so if you want in, either post your steam name here or send it to me via email (the group is invite only, that way we can keep it TGC)

one thing i forgot to see is what games people have to play on steam
i myself have the following multiplayer games:
CS:Source
TF2
HL2: DM
HL1: DM
Insurgency (mod)
garrys mod 9

it obviously still has some stuff to be added to it but i have taken the liberty of adding a logo (maybe only a placeholder, ill see what everyone thinks, if we keep it we'll probably have to get a higher res version), and i have set up all the group permissions to what i think are reasonable ones: anybody can invite people (but please try and keep it TGC), but only a group of mods can kick people, there is a whole other bunch of things, like the ability to schedule events and make announcements (everyone can do these)

I'd join if it wasn't invite only, there are still some kinks with the SteamID system for it.

You know you can set it to private, rather than invite only. That way you can get applications from people whenever and then accept/deny them.

We have that on the work one ^_^ mainly cause no one could bloody join on the invite-only status. Remember the groups aspect is still a beta part of the community system.

I'm waiting for Valve to add achievements, cause then we'll have a pretty sweet Windows version of Live more accessible to everyone not just those with Live games. That's something that is irritating me atm, is there is no stand-alone games for windows live. You have to sign in either to xbox.com or via a game, just to check messages.

Going to probably sort out getting another account on Virgin; as they have a deal to have it free for a year if you're on or sign up to their broadband packages
