I have Vista and Xp dual booted on a Vista installed machine. Ive been using XP, but with FPSCX10, i need to switch back to Vista. It turns out though the CD i used to install, which i thought was the backup CD, was really an upgrade CD. Long story short, I cant go on Vista for more than 3 Days, because after that i must activiate it. So my question is, i i order a system restore CD, is there any way i can install it on the Vista only partition, and not lose all of my Xp files? Thanks

Well, you can get an extern hard drive and put everything there. But maybe there is an better way. I dont really know, but this was all I came up with.

When your love leaves you, it hurt. But when she wants you back, when she reallize leaving you was an mistake, who am I not to take her back, if I still love her?

I think so... Have a look at GParted. They'll have to be the same file-system, I'm pretty certain.

You dont have an activation key? It's not on your computer? Usually there's a sticker with your windows key on the side or back.

It does, but it doesnt come with a copy to reinstall, just to upgrade, which the key doesnt work for!

The key won't allow you to upgrade, or you can't upgrade without an OS? I've read that you can install the 30 day trial of vista (ie, install it with no key), then run the installer a second time to "upgrade" it.

I don't know if this works, and you shouldn't do it unless you have a valid license to use it.

(To answer your original question, an image disk that the computer company sends you will almost certainly destroy any and all partitions on your hard drive).

Whats wrong with activating Vista, you can't because you chose XP already?

If the Vista came with your machine it will be an OEM key and probably locekd to your PC manufacturers motherboard.
