Well, i am now looking at some laptops. My budget is around $1000 (plus $300 max)

I am experienced in building, fixing pc s, but not really buying them. Especially laptops.

My first question is about the laptop graphics cards. Are the laptop GPUs the same as the normal gpu? For example i am looking at an ASUS with an HD 2600 video. does the one in the laptop have the same stats as the normal PCIe HD 2600.

the best laptops for a buck i found so far are several ASUS models, an M-Tech laptop and an I buy power notebooks looked pretty good.

I was considering at first to buy an ASUS with an HD 2600 512 mb, but then i was told that HD 2600 isn't very good at all, despite of the 512 memory the core clock is only 400 or 500 mhz (but yet again, i don't think they could stick something more powerful into a laptop). But i don't really know the details of the laptop video cards and i don't know if they are really the same as the normal cards.
thats about the only concern i have right now.

Look at Alienware or Dell XPS. =They're starting to use the 8700GT GPU now so there will probably be discounts on the 7900GT range

http://www.notebookreview.com This is a great site for laptop reviews and info. Personally I wouldn't go for ATI's GPU's. Nvidia's are better in my opinion.

What were the GPU on thoses two systems Agent Dink?

The most important part of a gaming laptop is it's graphics card.

A laptop will never be as fast as a desktop though because it has problems getting rid of the heat.

The new 8800GT GPUs at sub < £199 look really nice for a desktop too

Whoops forgot to post the GPUs on both. That's because they were in drop down boxes rather than Radio buttons hang on a sec. I'll edit my previous post with the new info. The IBuyPower laptop has a better one though as well^-^

as far asi am concerned the laptop HD 2600 the 512 mb version is GDDR2 But the 256 mb version of the same laptop gpu is GDDR3 I would perfer a 512 mb video card.

there is one laptop with nVidia Geforce Go 8600M GT with 512 MB DDR Video Memory do you think its better?
