Hello! After the successful commercial release of Vegetator Professional under Epsilon Zero, I decided to start a new project, this time an actual 3D game. Based on a little for-fun video recording (which I shall post soon) that some of my friends made (no, I am not in this video ), this game is featured around something that no other game has ever featured.....stuffed animals!!!

I'm actually working with three others, one of whom made the video. I am the coder, and the others make the music, sound effects, 2D graphics, and 3d models.

To show you how unique this game is, try to put these two main things into one picture in your mind:

1. Teddy bears.
and
2. Guns, knives, spiked bats...in short, weapons of mass destruction!

That's right, put those two together and what do you get? Teddy bears beating the stuffing out of each other. Stand face-to-face against your opponent in this 2 player game, or play the campaign solo and kill the blobs which are infesting the area and taking over the house, the neighborhood, and then even the world! (it's a long story)

Weapons in the game already:

-table knife
-fork
-bat
-spiked bat
-toaster gun
-ice shotgun
-cheesy42 (a rippoff of the German mg42, this is a rapid-firing, pre-packed cheese-strip machine-gun)
-steak knife
-pot
-piece-of-pipe
-board with nail

Levels in the game that are relatively ready:

-Kitchen
-Bedroom
-Dining Room
-Attic

Levels coming soon:

-Bathroom
-Living Room
-Basement

There is also a full-fledged combo system already in the game! There are two combos in the system so far:

-Slam-attack: with a weapon, press slash left, slash right, and then power attack and it will slam the weapon down on the opponent, sending him flying.
-Triple slash: press slash three times to execute this move. On the third slash your character will spin around.

Some of the effects in the game already:

-Slow-mo!
-Camera shaking.
-3D, shadowed particles.
-Intense shaders.
-3D sound effects.

Characters (like I said it's a long story):

-Beary the Terminator
-The Flying Flemwad
-Ninja Penguin
-The Blob
-Charlie the Unicorn

Some of the more general features:

-3D main menu with credits, options where you can turn on and off world, character, and item shadows and changed the resolution, color depth, and soon to be texture quality and other things.
-Two-player support.
-Multi-animations using enhanced animations.

Right now, a program I am making which is going to be used to record cinematics between missions in the campaign is almost complete.

There is already a trailer uploaded (check beginning of post), but here is one screenshot so you can see what's in the trailor before you download it:

We're trying to finish this by Christmas, so we'll see!

Hello, I'm the music composer and object UV mapper, as well as a modeler of one or two of the weapons. All the songs in the game are origional and created by me! No pirated material.

Conker? Hehe.
Nice looking game! You should include as one of the levels a childs bedroom because that is where they normally are from. I don't know if the bedroom explained was a childs bedroom. But hey! It would be cool though to use alphabet blocks against you foe or using them as platforms.

Looks great! The wall textures in the bedroom in the shader vid is a bit strange, and the animations can use some work, but besides that, this game looks fantastic.

Thanks! And thanks for the suggestions, we'll definetely think about ways to improve the game as much as possible.

New shot of some of the items in the game that our 3D modeler made:

Looks nice. I only have 2 criticisms about this though:

* Collision/Physics could use a bit of work.
* Perhaps it's just me, but I think this game could use a more "cartoony" look. For example, it shouldn't use lighting and bump-mapping as much, as that takes away from the over-all look I felt this was getting at. Just my opinion though.

This is only to help.

Good luck.

Cheers,

I think a cartoony approach could work but realism is so much better on this! The idea of this madness happening for real with a couple of teddies turned evil!

I don't think you should change it in favor of a cartoony look.

The way it is is perfect I think. A stylized realism.

I agree, it should be like it is. A cartoony style would be nice, but only if the game was a little less violent and stuff.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Aaron, I appreciate you posting your opinion on the game, but I don't think we will be re-doing our graphics. We will probably add to it, but not change it.

@ Deathhead

Where would it go? On one of the kid's shelves in the bedroom? Hmm..I'm not the lead modeler, so I most likely wouldn't be the one doing it anyways. I'm into music and UV mapping mostly. We won't need a ripped apart teddy bear anyways. There will be enough tears and rips on the playable characters.

When you are beating up the other characters you really needs "gore" I think stuffing, fluff, and thread should fly out of your opponent, muahahahaha.

Ah yes, the "gore" we already have planned.

As for the graphics, yes, a cartoony effect would be neat. However, we want this to be more onthe realistic side, so that it looks like you really are fighting in a house.

Hey! I happen to think that video is quite funny.

And I can provide a video of the attic later, I suppose.

For now, here's a shot of the unfinished options menu, which is fully 3D. All of the options work except the texture quality: (yes it's meant to look like the pieces of paper are hand-drawn )

That must be one slimy room , You should either use a gloss map with your normal map shader to make materials such as the floor/walls appear less smooth/shiny or tone down the shader's specular brightness.

Boy these TGC users are so picky. :-P But I do agree! I just didn't take the time to do that yet.

That's ok, I can wait.

Quote: "That options menu doesn't look good at all."

I have to disagree with you there. I think it's perfect as it is (matches the video and everything) and am not going to change it, except only to add more options to it. As I should have said sooner, I'll accept any comments or criticism (although the latter seems to be so common here ), but I won't actually use all the ideas I get.

By the way, we decided today to remove Charlie The Unicorn, for multiple reasons, but mainly because of legal issues that could arise as a result of that. We may be replacing him with another character, but as Christmas is the deadline we can't be too sure.

I'll keep you all posted.

Imho, I think it would look better if everything was centered on the menu screen rather than having the characters left aligned and the start right aligned. However, this may be because you have more stuff you want to add so you were leaving space in which case ignore my comment completely! Still looks great though!
