I am looking at this auction on ebay. Do you think this laptop will work for x-10. I am not looking for ultra high end, just something I can design levels on.

Just for a level designing that laptop is good enough. It COULD play the games as well, but definedly not with the highest settings.

Do you have any suggestions for a laptop under 1500 that would be good for this. Like I said, I am not looking for a great deal of power just something good enough to run and test my levels on moderate settings.

Look for one to build yourself so you can cut down on unnecessary features and upgrade important things like GPUs and processors. I spent about 1500 dollars on my desktop and it has a quad 2.4 processor, 2 gig of memory, and an 8800 GTS 320mb, and even a 22inch monitor. If you don't need a laptop because of travel and things like that, consider a cheaper, better desktop.

BTW: I also got a 80 dollar mouse and an 60 dollar keyboard in that 1500 dollars.

Can I ask where you got that from. I found one with 1 gig of ram, a 19" monitor and a 1.8 processor for about that amount with a 8800GT 512MB.

erm yes many cheap brands crash and burn within a year and don't offer the performance of there counterparts. Im not sayin this is the case but you havent asnwered the question anyway they want to know where you are getting your computer. Its also fair to say some expensive parts have this happen to but these normally have better guarentees its not the badges that count its the quality.

Is the 8600 the best x10 card you can get in a laptop?
I haven't seen anything higher-end yet.

it'd be pretty good, except that it's 256mb video card. and TGC recommends no less than 320mb....

@Uthink: If you've got a lot of money to spend on graphics cards, there are 8800GTS's and 8800GTX's for laptops. http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=118218&b=33

AMD 4800+ (2.5GHz dual core), 3GB RAM (667 MHz), 320GB HD, (7200 RPM), EVGA 8800GT Superclocked, HP 22" Widescreen LCD, Vista Home Premium
