There is blood, but not that many...

They wanted it so that it can be "bought/used" by any
buyers with a certain age.

And, the blood overlays can be changed, so it looks like
it is dubbled.

Oh man, i just have to get FPSCx10!
I'll order when i have the chance.

Cheers,
Cheese Cake.

There is no blood in the box copy. There will be a 16+ (maybe 18+) download that we will release very soon so that you can add these things back in. Our aim was for a 12+ rating in Europe and we have achieved this, but we had to remove blood and ragdoll. Don't worry, a free download will put this all back in.

Will sites such as IGN or Gamespot start to review X10 when it comes out? Is there going to be any commercial for X10? Did you take out the naked body experiment guy?

Flush the ratings!

Yeah, that is a good work around.
Release a copy for the kiddies, and a separate download for the adults.
But shouldn't that be the other way around???
I mean, wouldn't it be better to have the Kid version as the download to prevent them from downloading the adult version.
Then if the box version was Adult rating the rating should cost less since it wouldn't need to be reviewed. (Why review the highest rating?)
That should bring rating costs down and keep the hard copy (hardcore) out of the reach of the kids.

I'm not suggesting a last minute change or a change in your policy.
I was just commenting on the logistics of ratings and releases.

The 12+ rating in Europe absolutely demands that there is no realistic violence, and a character reacting and falling back from being shot was considered realistic and violent. When an enemy 'pops' out of the game in a puff of smoke, it is okay for 12+. Conversely, the US TEEN rating does not mind a little ragdoll as long as there is not too much post-mortem shooting of the corpse. Navigating the seas of software rating systems has been quite a challenge, and I think it ultimately provides more variety to FPS Creator. We had not considered adding a 'kid friendly' element to the software, which now means games you produce can also benefit from a 12+ rating which means you can sell it into more places and get more deals

I have already created the FPSC Blood Pack download, which will be available immediately upon release of the product, sitting happily in your Order History page and is only a few MB in size, and installs effortlessly. I have also structured the auto update system to detect whether you are running the MATURE version and update with a seperate executable. It is a requirement that a TEEN product has no easter eggs that can activate higher rated content.

As to product updates, thanks to the auto update system we no longer have to spend time preparing installers and webpages each time we make a bug fix. Our new streamlined update approach allows us to make smaller, more frequent updates to the software.

EDIT:

Rick, I have a question. Do the enemies actually aim at you when they are higher or below you? In X9, they still aim straight, even though they are shooting at you from above.

What if someone buys a boxed version and it is not purchased from tgc? How would you be able to activate blood and ragdoll if there is no history because you didn't buy from tgc?

Is there an in-editor option for blood and rag dolls? So we can choose to turn them off completely for the whole level should we wish to? Or do things like ragdoll have to be set for each individual character?
