Hi there,
I'm having a spot of bother with the drivers for my Edirol PC-50 keyboard.
Everything was working fine today, until I turned the keyboard off to change some settings on it, but when I turned it back on, i have a [Code 10] error "Device could not start".

I have had this problem before, but it resolved itself that time. I have Uninstalled and installed the damn thing countless numbers of times.
Problem is when I plug it back in, Windows automatically detects it and installs some crazy driver thats not meant for the keyboard.
It installs a "USB Audio Interface" driver, but it isn't a MIDI controller and it doesn't work anyway.

I honestly do not know what to do. I'm pulling hairs here!

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Cheers,
BiggAdd

right click on my computer, go to properties, go to device manager, go to "update driver", and find the appropriate driver. If the driver isn't in your drivers list, manually point to the driver ini file. If your driver is just an exe installation package, if you have winrar or 7zip installed, you can usually uncompress it to a specific folder.

I have all the latest drivers etc. Even tried the old drivers.
I tried going into properties and selecting update driver but only for it to say, no better suiting driver could be found.
I'm stuck for what to do.

But thanks for your help guys.

Have you tried letting it install the 'wrong' driver, uninstalling it from the system, then doing add hardware and doing 'select device->"Have Disk"', or something to that effect?

Yup. I've pretty much tried everything. I'm just going to Uninstall Windows and Install it again. My PC was slowing down anyway.
Cheers for your help.

I used to have a USB midi keyboard. Turns out it only works with about three motherboards, and only under 98. It was a nice Roland keyboard, too. Felt really ripped off.

Since the other one was scaring you guys so much...

Lol don't you just love USB MIDI. I'd try deleting it's driver from the computer hardware page, then rebooting the computer and letting it autodetect and ask for the driver again.

The joystick port to MIDI still rocks for my 20 year old MIDI keyboard So many ppl are going crazy about no Vista USB driver support for their old devices

Yamaha builds them to last http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vYlu9svRDg
