Hi all. I wonder if you guys can give me a bit of advice.

I finished at uni this summer, and appear to be running out of money! I need a job quick. Getting a real one will probably take a while so i reckon i need a temping job- basically something i can start quickly and stop at fairly short notice, although maybe something that would last 6 months or so would be OK too.

So, what's the best thing to go for? Is there anywhere special i should look at or apply to? I would rather something not too boring, and more money is better than less. I have a PhD and degree in physics, for what it's worth. I'm located in Southampton, UK.

No idea, but I found that in the Netherlands, PHP coding pays good for the amount of work involved.

Cheers. My coding experience outside of DB is negligible though.

Royal Mail or other postal service need more people around this time of year and they pay fairly good.

Shops will also be hiring extra staff for the Christmas sales.

Try your local job center or your unis careers service they have loads of cruddy part time jobs for students

Cheers. I'll check out the job centre and go to the careers place. I'll check out the post office too.

My skills? Nothing special really. I'm literate and numerate. I can use MS Word and Powerpoint to an extent. I mean i've used them before. Worked as a part time cashier in the past. Otherwise nothing directly relevant, unless i can get a temping job doing superconductivity experiments, or writing incomplete games in Darkbasic.

Dude, you have a PhD in Physics? You should join the game industry and work on physics programming. I'm sure they'd snap you up in a heartbeat.
