I just got a BFG 8800 OC2 512MB, and it is still clocked at the factory settings (Core: 675, Memory: 975). My idle temp if 51-53 degrees. What are some of your successful overclocks? I'd like to get the most out of the card without melting it..

Why? You've got a better card than 90% of people, and you're going to risk overclocking to get an extra few frames out of it?

I have the XFX 8800GTS 320, it came slightly oc'd at 580/900/1500 (core clock/mem clock/shader clock). It idles at around 60c with 80% fan. Its hard for anyone else to say how your card will perform at any given range of oc settings since case cooling will make a big difference. Get RivaTuner 2.06 and ATITool 0.27b and experiment carefully, and for goodness sake dont trust nvidia Auto fan, its not reliable at the driver level and can allow the card to over heat. Mine kept dying in games after 15 mins until I realized the stupid nv driver/af setting stink. I am using RivaTuner to adjust fan duty cycle % based on gpu temp in real-time via its background monitor. No more over heating

Screw it, I'll just hate everyone until they give me reason not to, it's easier that way

Thats my philosophy! Some advice though- if someone is big and strong that is a very good reason to not hate them.

@peter H- Actually, that can be better than 9800. It just depends on your processor.

It's actually not as good as it appears. My Geforce 7950GT 512mb came very slighty overclocked and has a memory of 1430 and a core of 565, I think, and it's 256 bit. The core may be worse, but the memory speed is way better.

@Uncle Sam- the 7950 actually has similar performance to the 8800 gts. The main difference however is support for direct x 10. It annoys me that people think that all 8xxx cards are better because they are direct x 10 and cost more. Wrong! They do support direct x 10, but they only cost more because they are from a new series.
