Can't say I'm surprised...just another poor display in a run of many of late.

Even after being given a lifeline by Israel beating Russia, if they can't even draw with Croatia at home, perhaps they don't deserve to be in Euro 08

Hope the fans behave tonight lol. Maclaren's lost his job for sure.

ps. Germany will win Euro 08

There are big problems with England, there have been for a while.
You know how we solve this problem?
By throwing loads of managers at it!

Big surprise. McClaren was obviously the wrong man for the job, but it's just not in the cards for England. I suggest they stop playing names and start playing skills, they might make it somewhere like that . Don't tell me Paul Robinson was in the goal, he can't even keep time . Seriously, *I'm* a better keeper than him, lol. And I'm American!

It would be a suprise, because we have qualified and I'm not sure if we have even did it once! (I'm a soccer-disliker, so I don't know...)

So true :p. England played rubbish, and to be honest from their overall performance in the group, they didn't deserve to qualify. Infact I can't beleive I'm going to say this but Scotland deserved it more!

Grandma:
Makes all the Americans understand what we talk about

For the rest of you:
Soccer is pronounced almost like "socker" which is Swedish for sugar

I know why you said it, i just don't know why me must call it soccer because a small fraction of the people in this world would think it's something else if we didn't, when the rest of the world calls it football. I just find it odd that people think the americans are that stupid. I'm sure they know the difference.

It's simple really. If anyone is interested in football (both kinds), then i'm sure they know enough about it to distinguish between the two based on just the thread title alone. If not, well then they could just read the discussion in said thread and it should become obvious. If they are still baffled, maybe taking part in the discussion is not adviced.

Personally I've never watched rugby so I couldn't care less if England didn't qualify for the Euro 2008. It's just rugby, isn't it? Not a huge deal.

Grandma:
I'm curious to why they didn't call it "carryball" instead

There are only two sports good enough to watch: K-1 and Curling

Because they throw it sometimes.

If we turn it around... why do people call soccer, football? It's not like the ball is made out of feet (or sugar). We kick it though, could just as well have called it kickball.

Haha, curling has it's moments.

McClaren is gone, now Holland should sack their coach. We lost to Belarus and beat Luxembourg by 1-0 for christ's sake, with the players we have we should be able to do a lot better. Shame for England, can't say I'm too sorry though

I was just cheering on my team but seriously speaking, Poland has a shot, I mean we did beat England didn't we? And in the U20 we beat Brazil and just got unlucky having to play Argentina (who ended up winning the whole thing) in the first elimination round. So how about everyone here who was gonna cheer for England now cheers for Poland? Our national colours are fairly similar and we both have 'land' at the end of our names..fair enough?

England needs a hard ass manager now to whip those lazy millionaires into shape... Ricky Tomlinson!!!
Or... Tony Blair! He's not doing anything
Some people think Mourinho should be England manager. Some people are stupid.

I think Stuart Pearce is perfect for the job

I feel sorry for McClaren, he's a good manager and could have been great for England, he just came in at a bad time and didn't sort things out quickly enough.

Dunno about that. Look at his track record and what he has achieved. Then think we needed a manager to take the national team to the european and world cup and have a chance of winning them. With the world cup we are talking about the biggest sporting competition in the world with the biggest sport in the world. Even if you consider him a good manager (debatable even before England) I would say you would want at least a great manager in charge of the country.

Now we are out of the european cup and have dropped into the 2nd rate country list. Which basically means that our world cup qualifying group will have a seeded country in. You know, like Italy, or Germany. Considering we couldn't qualify for the european cup against a bunch of very average countries then I don't hold out much hope. Possibly change that song to 50 years of hurt at this rate...

Cheers

are you surprised, when all the england team do is go out on late night benders, taking drugs, drinking, eating crap!

They get paid way too much!

If they were paid minimum wage and only got the BIG bucks when they won a match, you would see alot more wins!

The England team are a bunch of ladyboys!

Well, I don't think that Poland is gonna win THIS Euro, but maybe on E2012 Poland/Ukraine...

Actually you're right, if Poland keeps playing well then we have a really good shot at the E2012 when we play at home

You certainly have a better shot than us (Portugal) as of late, we can't seem to play a good match of football to save our lives!

I have vague plans for World Domination
