Go in to "Tools >> Options & Preferences" scroll down to Environment, open that and set Directories to point to the GDK.
Otherwise the app has no idea where it is, if you don't install and set the Visual Studio Environment Variables then any other installers can't see where you installed it to; what's more is unless they've changed it GDK doesn't automatically set it up in your Visual Studio Environment.

They used to have instructions explaining this

'dint' is a form of didn't a lot of English speaking people use, Raven don't you watch sit-coms? 'Oh no he di'nt' is a common line used. [edit] for those who take me too seriously, that was a joke

The setup should work, the installation process was very simple for me...

Before doing any of the installation stuff I started up VC++ 2008, made a piece of code and compiled it, as required. Ran the installation process, it created a new folder with another setup file, I ran that setup file and told it that I did the first compile in C++ and it installed. I ran a sample code and it worked. I used the wizard to make a new project, that worked too.

I love Nancy DrewG, but not insert brain here

Aluseus

seems theres some info here to help sort the problem. this should have been asked in dgk forum to begin with. if you have further questions you can re-ask in dgk forum.
