I'm just a little confused about the topic of Barebooks. Are they basicly laptops/notebooks with only the laptop case and motherboard installed, with the requirement of the owner putting the other components (RAM, Processor etc.) in individually themselves?

I was also wondering whether money could be saved by doing this, as I'd assume companies like Dell make some of their revenue by adding value with the finished products.

Yes, a barebook is a barebones notebood, the description should tell you what it all comes with. You should save a little money, but if you're in the UK maybe not (I know UK prices are fairly high), check prices on all the components, and see which one ends up being cheaper.
