I have the CD in the drive and the program loaded. When I try to run, I get an error: editor.exe has generated errors and will be closed. I tried deinstalling and I get a message that says that some temp file is in use, even though I've closed down every program. Can someone tell me what's going on?

try removing the package completely with Addremove pro. its a free application with more features than add remove and runs on all window flavours

I had exactly the same problem over the weekend. I manually deleted the Dark Basic Pro directories (and files) and removed the registry entries. I then re-ran the add/remove dark basic pro program and it completed successfully.

I then reinstalled and patched to 4.1, and installed the new IDE and it works fine.

If you're unsure about removing registry entries, ask someone who knows more about windows admin. Personally, I just deleted every root entry named "Dark Basic Software" using regedit.

Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for your actions. You do this knowing the risks of tinkering in the registry (i.e. it messes your pc up if it goes wrong) and you accept responsibility if it goes tits up.

Good luck!

Delete all files in your C:\WINDOWS\TEMP directory too and then retry.
