sure thing
I'm pretty tired right now so it will be a quick paraphrase of the end.
Book
After arriving at the station, the group fills up in food and gas while
the creatures run about in the mist. The main character is writing in
the journal that the story is told from, he doesn't know whether or not
the rest of the world is covered in this mist but he has to try for his son's sake.
He leaves the journal on the table, he figures maybe someone will find use for it.
These are the last words in the story , changed a little since its from memory
"I layed beside my son who was still sleeping and whispered two words into his ear. The first sounded like one word..Hartford. The other was hope."
And thats it, you don't know if the group survives or not, but he's trying to get to hartford.
Movie
They drive through the mist past the station and past a sign that says hartford, now would have been a good time for those last words of the story, but no. Instead, he decides hope is lost and so he shoots the elderly lady with him, the lady he had adultered sex with, and then his son...he can't kill himself and hates himself for it and then he's rescued by the army...the end??? Nowhere near what happened, very cliche and not king like.s
