At first you would think the top one since it has more memory but iv'e learned the hard way that there is more to a video card than just the number of megs of memory it has

Thanks all in advance!

I would go with the 8800 GT you've chosen. It's proven to be a contender against the 8800 GTS 640MB iirc, for $150 less.

Some people are saying the cooling on the GT is noisier than the GTS

The GT is a bargain though and seems to be slightly fater than the GTS on benchmarks. I don't think I'd pay more for a GTS.

I hear there will be silent GT models coming along soon so if noise is an issue for you hang on a bit. You'll be lucky to get a GT this side of Christmas anyway stock seems to be hard to come by in the UK at least.

Niether, the Radeon HD 3870 is the way to go.
Consistant out-performance of the 8800 GTS, at the 8800 GT price-mark; plus Dx10.1 and OpenGL3 compliance

@Raven: Well, this review shows the 3870 isn't as fast as the 8800 GT on several tests, but is indeed cheap enough to warrant the slight decrease in speed. I think I can agree with you.

I take back my original vote.

I did say GTS not GT, just to clarify.
Although you can overclock it quite well, and regain the performance difference

Whoops, my mistake. Though now that Radeon is making me regret being an early adopter this time around

Wonder how much I could get for a used 8800 GTS 640MB...

The GTS would be better, although personally I would go with the GT. It is cheaper and yet close to the GTS's performance. Hence nvidia waiting so long to introduce it.
