Ah, that last picture was a bitmap. People do NOT like bitmaps for screenshots: you get almost no improvement in quality, but 10x the download time. Since your first pic was a jpg, I assume you just made a mistake.

Okay, with only 2 shots to go on, I can analyze each shot in detail.
First screen: Bare, bare, bare! You have a big wide space, and nothing in the middle. Always ask yourself why this space was created, what it's for and so on. If it were a community hall or a dancefloor, there's good reason for it to be empty. But this room looks like it's being USED for something (lockers, crates, funny blue sci-fi cylinder) so it should look like it's used. Put some tables in, and some lighting, and make it feel more natural. Plus, it would be nice to see some custom textures or even models (although I realise that, if you just got FPSC, you wouldn't have got round to that yet).

Second screen: This is more interesting. The floor and walls are nice. I'm not sure why there are boxes floating in the middle of the room - is this a shot of a sort of explosion? Or are they hanging static in space? Either way, as long as you explain why, it's fine.

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

Darth Kiwi,

I AM GOING to get FPSC but have not ordered it yet. I should have it pretty soon though.
In my second scene the blocks are not floating in the air but I just stacked them up and they were falling down.
The second scene is my first room.

No you didn't. That stuff came with FPSC, you just put it together. It's all stock media.

I agree with darimic, this is a very noobish game, but you just joined last week [Mod Edit]

Yeah, it's very basic, the third screen was ok, but try to improve yourself.

dude keep them in jpg. the last screen: it was better but dont make light come outta nowhere, make it coming outa a light entity. and turn down the ambience.( you must be usijng the trial, though. cus you sai you havent got the full version yet and you cant change the ambience on the trial.) still if you have the full version tone it down

I'm gonna have to write a book... "How to make great games in FPS Creator"

Here's a few tips that will help you improve:

Every room should have a purpose as should every object.

Upload screenshots in .jpg format in future please.

LOOK at other peoples games and proper retail games and look at the object placement. It subtley points you in the right direction and every object seems to have a purpose. If something is out of place - it's probably a deliberate flaw and part of the story.

Use lighting to subtley highlight things. Make the boring, bare bits darker and the big important things well lit. It will add to the quality of everything.

edit: To embed pictures into a post you can do this:

Upload the screenshot to http://www.imageshack.us

Once uploaded it will give you a direct link to the image

Then just take that link and put this in the forum post:

And it will be embedded.

E.G.

@Cooldude, I am going to say this so that you don't go and look like a noob. Add more objects to your rooms, make the rooms and get some free media from the forums to use. Right now your game is looking absolutely terrible.

I know, but I have learned. I don't want him to make the mistake lots here do, throw a game together in 20 mins and call it a finished level.

turn down the ambience just a tad go to build game, the globa;l script then make ambience 100 or so, or 0 for pitch black where there is no light

Check out my WIP game, and comment at>>>> http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=118704&b=25

turn down the ambience and put light beside/in things that normally give off light. examples:

1. that greeen cylinder could use a green light.
2. you could take a blue light down to size 50 and put it next to a laptop to represent it's glow.
3.lava could have a red light
4.fire could have a mid-sized yellow light.
5. lights hanging of the wall is where your lights should be.
6. add some flickering lights for a little more suspense. (right click on a light, set it to dynamic mode, go and script to light2.)it works.

so put lights where light would normally bein real life. and dont make all the rooms so random. examples:

1.stick with EITHER sci-fi or ww2 (unless your trying to copy Resistance:Fall of Man)
2. dont have a big labratory right next to a civilian lounge

i feel inda sick so im going away for a while but hope this helps.

@Cooldude, Add more objects to your rooms, make the rooms and get some free media from the forums to use. Make sure you have light mapping on and use different colour lights. Check this thread out if you want to learn how to use lights so they look good: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=113796&b=21. Also learn to model and make your own models or at least learn to texture to make your own segments. The new screen looks okay but make some stuff static, not all dynamic. It will lag and dynamic entities don't work great with lights.

In all honesty dude, you shouldn't have showcase this stuff.

It's really just you throwing stuff together calling it a game.

You should've learned more and gotten the hang of it more, practiced level design and such and make it look good before you showcase it.

I'm sorry if I come across as rude, I'm just saying, you really need to improve, and you shouldn't showcase the first little thing you make. When my game is started I'm not showcasing it until it looks really really good. It's gonna be months. You should've waited and made this look good too.

But keep trying, I'm sure this will turn out great, in time.

Keep it up. But try to improve and get better.
