FPSC Classic Models and Media / Do I need to re-animate...?

I noticed that when I use the Entity-Workshop, I can import a character-entity from FPS and make him taller and bigger.

But when I export the entity back into FPSCreator and give it the same animations that the one I took it from had, the entity comes onscreen with his arms raised but no animations.

Do I, or how do I re-animate the modified characters? I don't understand why the modified character doesn't retain the animations (even though the code is there..) when I import it back into FPS Creator.

Can someone help me understand this a little better?
Thanks.

Do you just want to make him bigger altogether?

Entity-Workshop, does not import/export animations.
Fragmotion does.

Hope that helps

There is an easier way...

If you just want it bigger, then go into the characters FPE file and change its scale value.

For instance, the Thug unarmed model has a scale=80 in his FPE file.
Change that to scale=180 and then place it in the editor. (you can scale it to suit your specific need)
Make sure you delete his .dbo or .bin files if they are there before you run the editor.
That will force FPSC to create new .dbo and .bin files that will reflect the change you made.
Just be careful to make sure its a big room and his head won't hit the ceiling.
This is easy to do and you won't have to re-animate, as he will retain all his animations.

Thankx for all of the above everybody. Everything has worked good so far. Speaking of Fragmotion though...I just can't seem to get the .x model to show up correctly in FPSC.

That is to say when I export the model from fragmotion back to .x format and put it in FPSC to test, the animations apparently work...but...the model is showing as a black triangle only. I know that I'm doing something wrong!

This is onfusing at the best of times, what with so many applications that do so many different things. Im not at all new to programming, but lets face it - there needs to be much more tutorials telling users exactly how to use some of these software programmes.

Still struggling to get the darn 'thug' model that I've changed an reanimated back into FPSC using fragmotion...

I find that fragmotion is great, but don't know it is showing up as a black triangle.

I noticed that my model shows up as a ugly black triangle, when exporting my .x character model back into FPSC. (when using fragmotion).

Is there any way to lick this mega-prob?

Yea, I have pretty much the same problem. I modify an .x model of an original FPS creator character in 3d canvas, then bring it into fragmotion to align the FPS skeleton with it and save it as .x and put into FPS creator folder, but when i make the entity and test it out all I see is two intersecting white lines with a gun on the bottom of the floor, i mean it seems other stuff works because i see the gun turn towards me and shoot, reload, etc. I just dont know why its not showing up right.

I think there should be some more tutorials on how to make and import characters, because I think a lot of people bought FPS creator not just to make levels but to make entire games, and not everyone has extensive knowledge of all the programs needed to make custom content.

Does no one have a solution to this? it should work. I basically just took the Col. X model, not changing the size, then added big shoulder plates to him, put him back in fragmotion, loaded the col-x skeleton and merged it with him, same exact size lined up perfectly and animated perfectly, then exported the .x file to replace the original col-x. Mind you I DID delete the .dbo of col-x before exporting it so the .dbo would be rebuilt with the new mesh.

In the editor, when i create the new col-x entity it shows up in top view just like i made him, with the shoulder pads and he looks the right size, but when i run in test mode he is invisible except for his gun and two ugly white lines that extend out. What's the deal? what are we doing wrong? Please I mean if you are reading this and you have ANY suggestion whatsoever please post...I've already done a lot of other work on my game and I don't want to end the progression of content just because I can't figure out how to export to FPSC...

Allright after looking around I found that FragMotion has problems exporting the .x files to FPSC. So maybe I Should try Milkshape? Only thing is I won't know if it will work or not unless I buy a copy...can anyone confirm that it works? I really really desperately want to find a solution to this.
